Oh My Blog! April 26, 2012

Ok, I felt that I *have* to blog even though I am really busy with work and feeling damn tired. Reason? Because this morning my friends (Ching & Sookie) told me my blog is missing! WTF! I don’t even know that it was! Apparently I had broken some Terms of Services and they suspended my account until further notice. I was feeling so crappy… I could still log in, but all my posts were missing! Just one sign saying my account had been deactivated due to breaking the mysterious terms and conditions. Of course, Ching*had* to be so helpful and say things like I must have posted “benda tak senonoh” (obscene / vulgar stuff) and what not. Hahaha. And on the day that I had such a stressful moment, 3G connection was soooo bad at the office. So I was left in the dark… sigh.

Thankfully, the WordPress peeps are pretty fast, and if you can read this post – obviously all is well! Apparently they have some funny anti-spam checker and for some reason my blog just got alerted as a spammer? Lol?!?!

Work is very very very very very busy at the moment… it always is just before a rollout! I underwent my first ~~real~~ production rollout early March, and this is the second phase + enhancements for 1 country from Phase 1. *sweat* Pray for me, my friends! I really could do with some good luck and warm thoughts. I just wanna break! At the same time, also on loan to another team to do yet another project. That one is really, really exciting (in a way) because everything about it is new! New system, new set-ups, everything is from the ground up! Usually when you work in a bank, you are in a team where all your team mates are working at something for like thousand years. Being in this project affords a fresh perspective. How do you even get off the ground? So far, I have the chance to work with sooooo many teams, and anti-social me is becoming very talkative …. (through office communicator only… haha).

At the same time, I am still doing night support. I still get very “kan cheong” (panicky) whenever I get a call at 2am, but that’s really few and far between. So no need to mention at all. *pish posh*

Add to that some spice in the office and …. sigh, I’m tired! I didn’t go to the gym for one whole month, and average time leave work is about 9pm. There is one day I left work 10pm and came home to work til wee hours of the morning (God bless VPN). By the way, in no way do I say I am so hardworking… cos I’m not! I still consider myself somewhat new, so I have a lot more to learn… :~~~( Even on weekends I don’t sleep in til 5pm or whatever because I have so many errands to run. In fact, I’m behind time for so many things. Even on weekend stuff also got drama. I know I just went for holiday end of February, but I think I’m due for another one.

On the upside, I have many colleagues who when I think about, I smile because they are nice to talk to. I like the business users here who tell me gossip and secrets whenever we catch some breathing space. And really, maybe every company will say this but, YOU REALLY GET TO LEARN A LOT.

Okie, I’ve been enjoying this pity party for one for enough, so just remember… PRAY FOR ME… and I will post more pictures after this…

The day I decide to drive further out for lunch, I encounter massive jam. WTF is this. But I do feel sorry for the people who get into an accident, I’m sure they feel lousy not just about themselves but for troubling others.

Random present from Tron! Nike shirt… nice huh? My training is delicious… lol. So is my food, that is why I have to gym more! I think I gained 5-6kg after leaving XYZ Bank. At this rate, in a short 4 years time, I could gain 20kg! Scary!

Ok, I wanna go on a crazy crash diet after this. Lose weight!! I think I gained more weight than my pregnant team mate la! *exaggerating, but then again, maybe I’m not?!!?*

More Random Office Pics That Have Not Much To Do With My Work… December 17, 2011

The main point of my post is not to show you what the title suggests is about to show, but to tell you about a FREAKY incident that makes me feel darn freaked out til … this very moment. Ok, remember when I first blogged about UVW bank here? I blogged about randomly grabbing a cup from my house store room and it’s a really weird cup indeed. For a reminder, this is how it looks like :

It’s a Buonofresh cup, which as I also mentioned, is a product that isn’t even sold in Malaysia anymore. So what’s so special about this cup? Well in the office, sometimes after I wash my cup, I would leave it on a rack to drip-dry before it is stored into the wooden cabinet. I think this is just normal, cos you really shouldn’t place sopping wet cups into a wooden cabinet. Sometimes when I go to get my cup later, I don’t see it on the rack anymore, but it is already inside the wooden cabinet. I just assume the cleaners keep it away because there are lots of people who want to use the rack too.

Sometime I take my cup and I feel that there’s something crusty covering it.. and I feel irked. Maybe someone used my cup, or someone spilled something over it and did a real shoddy job of cleaning it up? Then… one day I FOUND OUT….

Someone else has the exact same cup as I do! :O :O :O :O I saw it with my own eyes in the pantry, soaking and with a fork in it. Before that, I never saw our two cups side-by-side, so I didn’t think there could be a duplicate. I can’t even believe how coincidental is that. It’s not like this product (Buonofresh)  is super popular… right? And what are the chances of someone using this cup? Don’t tell me YOU have this cup in your house too? I’m quite disturbed by how many times me and this other mystery person has been using each other’s cups. I’m wondering … should I just buy another cup and bring it to the office instead? Or should I store my cup in MY own pedestal from now onwards? Or should I color the bottom of my cup black with a marker?

Meanwhile, on the work front, have been busy on this project that I’ve been doing. I’m learning a lot, and happiest of all, getting to know my users better. All are very nice, knowledgable, kind people. I’ve interacted with all kinds of people, and a lot of random things have been happening to me. Got to learn different stuff in different projects, still doing night support, doing a lot of random things! One thing that I’m happy about is that the “training” on converting ebcdic to unicode back in my old place really came in handy when I was doing a project that converted numeric character references to extended ascii. Wah, that gave me headaches, but it’s super interesting stuff!

Merry Christmas! Every other Friday or so, the company likes to give us stuff! Since it’s nearing Christmas, they gave EVERYONE a packet of cookies! So cute!

The company also likes to get the staff to participate in random quizzes and such. Sometimes the prizes that they give away are really really good. Like iPad, ipod Touch and so on… and usually how you win it is just by being the first few people to give in all the correct answers. Since I’m not constantly refreshing my email, I often only realise few hours too late that “quiz time” has passed. This round, I so happened to be working from home and got the email to take a quiz on an ongoing project in the Bank… and I won! A notebook and a stress ball! Grr.. first prize was an ipod Touch!

I showed the stuff to my boss and he asked me who did I know from the project that was bribing me with goodies. Hahaha! Obviously he not interested in taking part in quiz anymore.

Went for a presentation by a vendor that gave us notebooks and CD cases… hehe. And they encouraged us to take more than 1 per person because they didn’t want to cart it back to their country! So my colleague and I could gather some extra supplies for peeps back in the office.

I know you are going to think that I’m so suaku over free stuff, but last time I only had one vendor that gave us freebies and that vendor was so legendary that 6 years down the road, we at XYZ Bank were still harping about why we never go to them for training anymore. HAHA. Yeah, so I basically “grew up” deprived.
