Completely Random Bits Of My Life

Gals Day Out April 18, 2012

Lots of pictures to post from meet-ups many, many, many weeks ago. Would you believe me if I said I have stuff to do every weekend? I’m seriously busy every weekend – sure have chores to do or people to meet up with. If you told secondary school Leech that it would be this way, she wouldn’t believe ya. Weekends are for more gymming and snuggling in bed with a good book! I used to be able to read a few books a month, but it’s already April and I think I only read 2-3 books. :\ Plus, last time I used to be the one buying all the books in my house, but now it’s *jeng jeng jeng* my brother! I cannot believe that he actually reads wtf. :P The problem with reading books that my brother buys are that he only buys cheap books. Like stuff from the bargain bin – so you’re definitely not reading any award winners. Still, it’s something to flip thru when you’re on the porcelain throne I guess. :P

I’ll blog about the books that I read in another entry, because it’s seriously wtf + lol. Meanwhile, pics of meet-ups with my gal pals from earlier this month! (Or was it late last month? Gee, how time flies.)

Went to SUGIMOTO with Dull, Fuzz and Pauline recently. I know, such a random mix of gals right? The similarity? All my good friends who are dependable + I can work with. Hahahaha.

Had this roll to start, but I forgot the name!

Another roll to share! Spider roll.

Dull and Fuzz… (Dull was not happy that I brought my camera)

Sweet Pauline.

Fuzz’s unagi (eel) set

Pauline’s sashimi set… it came with a set of udon as well. I know, Sugimoto portions are ridiculously filling!

My tempura set, full of lovely fried seafood… damn damn good….

Dull took some chicken rice bowl set… I feel bad cos she doesn’t really like Japanese food as much as the rest of us!

Tucking in

Awww, Dull looks so fab here!

Pauline and I. :)

Pauline and I back in 1950s

Another great photo of Fuzz and Dull

After that, we went to Kamdar to pick out some cloth… don’t mind us. We are just checking out color combinations, haha.

Fuzz has a very critical eye. Same for Dull! They can see shades that I cannot differentiate

I was wondering why Kamdar also sells weapons (spears), and Dull said it’s OBVIOUSLY curtain rods. Wtf, do you think it’s “OBVIOUSLY” curtain rods? I think not!

Met up with Kim for our annual gift exchange… just that we are so late this year that her birthday is in about 5 months time, lol. Well, she has been busy and it’s quite exciting to hear her talk about going for dance classes and “social dancing”. I didn’t even know there’s such a social dancing scene in KL. The only dancing scene I know of is feng tau like on ecstacy in clubs. Anyway, we went to Papa Johns because Tron gave me all his BCARD vouchers that he got from Chatime. Among the stack of vouchers said to be worth RM1.3k is countless Papa Johns vouchers. -__-” In the end, the waitress also keyed in the coupon wrongly and we got a better deal – buy 1 free 1 instead of a 2 pizzas for RM40 or whatever.

It was fun meeting up! We talked and talked until Pyramid closed down and we had to leave Papa Johns through the backdoor, hahahaa.

The “must have” cheese sticks with tomato sauce & butter garlic sauce. It’s not really a must have, but the butter garlic sauce is damn evil sinful delicious sinful crap!! It’s like oil! But oil that you want to drink, hahha.

The Mexican pizza, which is rather spicy. The jalapenos will have your mouth on fire. Quite deceptive since the pizza looks so mild.

The Papa John’s must have.. forgot the name. :P

And this is Kim! Ching, can match your friend with her ah, hahah… *wink wink nudge nudge*

Two of us.. forgive my tired look, I really am tired from work (nearly 3 weeks no time to go gym) and I felt myself ballooning up + losing my hair. I need a new look! Anyway, Kim looks nice here… maybe I should take up this social dancing thing too.. :P

Pics From Around Facebook April 1, 2011

More pictures to share with you! Got these pics from FB… been tagged by my friends. =) Yay! More pics from the all girls Langkawi trip! One of my dodgy colleagues wanted to get to know Dull and Fuzz after he saw their pics on my Facebook. “Err.. ya, sure… I’d introduce them to you… IF YOU WEREN’T MARRIED.”
Him : “Why cannot… make friend only mah…. :(

Why are guys so dodgy!! Anyway, pics pics pics!

Allen’s Birthday Party
Sigh.. my old cell group. I do miss them, especially at times like these, when I view back old photos. This was in celebration of Allen’s birthday. And my cg leader made a tofu cheesecake for him. ^^ It is quite an intereting taste, and unlike other kinds of cheesecake, you will feel really HEALTHY eating it!

Pictured here : Andrew, KS, Prisca, Pauline, Pastor GS, Samuel, Tina, Allen, Kenny, JenLing, me, JP and Dora. And cake.
Plus Elaine

No matter how enthusiastically I clap, can’t be as enthusiastic as Andrew. ;)

Check out my expression here, hahahaha!

Wan Li’s Wedding
Not sure if I posted this before, but two pics from WanAi’s camera from the wedding in Bahau earlier this year :

All of us L-R :P auline, Trider, WanLi, me, WanAi, Mr CKY, Justin and Mr See.

4 Days In Langkawi
… from Fuzz’s camera. A few pics might look the same as what I’ve posted before, but I kinda like her camera quality + photography skills more. So here’s 27 pictures that I snagged from her album on Facebook. ;)

I was tired of the usual poses… :P

This Dull so jealous of my football jersey… asked me since when I started being interested in football. Me dear, this is an old shirt and I bought it back when I supported Portugal in the World Cup (when Figo was captain)

What a weird picture of me adjusting the tripod on the beach! BTW, the tripod was quite useless! I intend to throw it away! It’s broken anyway… my brother-in-law does not dare to put his dSLR on top of it… :)

Got photobombed a LOT that night. ;)

Pouring out the port wine for all of us. :)

My favorite pic of the lot! Is my new Facebook profile pic. :)

I am NOT showing off my arms here.. though my friends say that it is muscular, I just think it’s BIG but not muscular. I need to do a lot more work to tone it down and make it more… like obviously muscular. And I need to work on my shoulders more too. :(

Happy 28th birthday.. friends for 14 years and counting. That’s half our lives, yo! ;)

Four Days – Our Friends From Japan March 1, 2011

To be honest, I surprised myself by being able to even wake up the next morning. Honestly, was feeling like something the cat dragged in — sigh, gone are all those days of drinking practice. I think I’m too healthy for that now.. my body cannot take the alcohol. :p :p Anyway, we woke up nice and early for a stroll along the beach. It was not that hot, and we just amused ourselves looking at all the hotels on the beach that were so much nicer than ours. This Dull really siasuey la! As we walked along, she saw some beach activities stand, and said (damn loudly), “Hey girls, we should really go for a banana boat ride la!” Right after that, she shouted (damn loudly), “WHAT THE F*CK! IT’S RM90 FOR 15 MINUTES! WHAT A RIP-OFF!! KNNMCH LA!”

Fuzz and I were just ignoring her… and continued walking… a gwai lo passed us and he turned to Dull and said, “Well, we do offer discounts!” and proceeded to sit at the stand… HAHAHA! OMG, she was so embarrassed, serves her right! And I thought that *I* was the one who always got caught in embarrassing moments, hahaha! After that she was really quiet. :p

We walked darn darn far along Pantai Cenang… and wound up at some random Malay restaurant for breakfast. Actually, we wanted to eat at Breakfast Bar, but it was closed for all the days that we were there! Even on the day that they said that they were going to re-open. It was so darn disappointing… we loved that place the last time we were here! I had some pretty good nasi goreng kampung here, so no complaints. Fuzz had a lovely mushroom cheese omelette that she said was too much for her. So if you like your stuff in generous portions, then I guess this place is the place for you. Too bad I have no idea what it is called. :D :D :D

Walked back to the hotel room, and drank some moscato wine. Erm… ya, the theme for this trip is wine, we are DONE with all that hard liquor stuff. By the way, I guess I’m a noob with wine, but you really need to drink almost one glass of water for every glass of wine you take. The stuff is freaking dehydrating, and I suppose that was why I felt as ill as I did. The Banrock Station moscato wine is really good… and it’s only going for RM25-RM30 over here! So worth it ok! By the way, the Hoegaarden was about RM4 and the Hooch was RM5.50… omg! The Canadian ice wine is RM59, but since it is only 375ml, it makes it the most expensive thing per ml that I bought. But I promise you, it is a wine that you will remember… bought one back for Tron. :) Let’s celebrate! <3 <3

Er… then I knocked off for “a bit”, but it was actually for about 3-4 hours. The thing was, after drinking the wine, we were waiting for the maintainence guy to come and fix the toilet. Since we couldn’t leave the room unattended as he fixes the loo, we just sat around.. and then I fell asleep. My friends went to the beach (and took pictures of topless women), but I don’t envy them. Who goes walking on the beach at 3pm in the afternoon anyway? I think I’m really not a beach person after all… I don’t like the hot sun, I don’t like the sand between my toes and I sure don’t like the insects or jellyfish. The only thing I like about the beach is the fashion and the bikinis wtf!

By the time I woke up, the two of them said that they were driving along Pantai Cenang / Pantai Tengah to look for alternative accomodations. The toilet was literally a pain in the ass… and it got to everyone. When I finally dragged myself out of bed.. then I explored the beach for a bit, the lovely little tourist traps along Pantai Cenang … so I guess I didn’t miss out on the touristing around that the other 2 did earlier. Talking about tourist traps, I wound up with :
- a sling bag saying “I Love Langkawi”
- a painted wooden bracelet (I bought one for RM10 in Bangkok before, but I broke it… *sob* About the same price here, so not too bad)
- 3 scrunchies for RM5 (and I thought Bahau was cheap! But admittedly the designs were a bit er.. aimed for kids)

Went for an early dinner at D’Melati restaurant… also along Pantai Cenang. You can’t miss it. Everything we had that day was superb – regular pizza for RM16 only, yummy fish and chips, succulent burger, super fresh chef’s salad… the only thing about this place is that you shouldn’t dine here if you’re in a hurry. You’re supposed to like, chit chat, maybe play a few card games while waiting for your food to come. And boy do they take their time! It was probably the longest lunch/dinner I have ever had. But it was worth the wait, I guess! It helps when you’ve got good company and lots to gossip about. Hahahaa!

Oh! And my friends told me that they found the perfect place to move to after we leave Grand Beach Motel. The place is at Pantai Tengah (instead of our favored Pantai Cenang), and it has a seemingly private beach (SEEMINGLY being key here) and was only RM20 more expensive. I was elated! Finally, I could go to the toilet, wtf! That night, we bummed around until it was quite late (honestly, I don’t remember what we were doing, but there were a lot of crosswords, a lot of reading Eat, Pray, Love, eating chips and all that. Aside from the moscato, we didn’t drink much! After bumming and relaxing, Fuzz insisted that we check out that awesome Babylon Bar that we kept walking past. We took so long to get ready that by the time we were walking there, it was around 10:40pm! The band stops playing at 11! Lol! We had a minor drama over whether we should bother or not, but since there were online reviews raving about the place, we went ahead.

The place exudes an air of being very hip, very cool, accessible and just so laid back and fun. The band was really good (played rock hits) but … it was a bit too hip and cool for a nerd like me. Everything was on the beach, and they had some cool (but uncomfortable) log furniture laid out right on the sand. At 10:40pm, the place was so crowded that I didn’t know how we were even going to get seats. However, as we walked nearer, 2 guys started waving at us to join them. Saw that they were asian, and although asians are generally less perverted (wtf) I was like, “eh, anti-social la… let’s get our own table.” :p

We got our own table.. which was just next to those 2 asian dudes. Dull decided to help us get drinks (pina coladas) and while we were waiting, the dudes joined us at the table. The tall guy was very friendly and hapless in a Japanese sorta way (they were both Japanese lah) and since they seemed harmless, ok lo. We joined them, but we didn’t drink from their dodgy looking “special mix” and they just talked about travelling and stuff. The tall guy was very flirty with Fuzz! He said that she was just his type. Hahaha! Then the muscular guy asked Dull, “Out of all the guys in the world, what kind of guys do you like? American? Chinese? Malay?” When Dull answered, “Malaysians”, he replied, “Oh Japanese guys you like the most? Good good…” WTF!

Then the two guys also asked me am I Japanese.. and they waved to me because they thought I was. -___- Please lah, so many Chinese girls in Malaysia being mistaken as Japanese, but when I compare them and myself, I don’t see any similarity at all. Hahaha. Maybe I’m like Japanese obaa-san. Anyway, they mainly flirted around with Dull and Fuzz la, seeing as I said I have a boyfriend. =) And in case you’re wondering why I refer to them as the tall one and the muscular one, it’s because I didn’t even get their names. They are so strange la… maybe it’s normal for people in that country, but they didn’t even know my name, but one of them asked me if I wanted to travel to Sabah with him. -____- But not to say that they are evil, pervertic or whatever… they were just two funny fellers… after drinking our pina coladas we left (no point, band also not playing ady), and they didn’t insist on following us creepily. Though the tall guy did invite us to join them at Sunba.. and alternatively, to go swimming the next day! -_____-

This picture happened because I asked him to help us take a photograph, and then he said, “Oh you want my photograph?” and proceeded to camwhore. -___-

Went back to Pantai Cenang to buy Ramlee burger… while waiting for Ramlee burger, they passed by on their scooter, and as they waved at us as they potted by, one of my friends said, “See? I told you they were harmless. Should have let them buy as drinks la….” -_____-

Four Days – The Beginning February 28, 2011

Prior to getting there, my day was REALLY REALLY going well. I made my FD placements at another bank, and they gave me 2 umbrellas. When I told my mom, she said “Wow, before you win the two houses, they let you win two umbrellas already.” That bank must be super rich… I never got an umbrella from my current company. :p After that, I went over to BluInc to collect my prize from Female Magazine… I won an RM250 bag from Elle! Was super happy because this ends my contest draught, and I believe is symbolic of new beginnings. :p *wink*wink*

Actually, the bag is super unpractical… it has fur on it (which Tron refers to as “your kambing bag”), is a deep purple in color and it has gold bling bling on it. Hahaha! But despite its Paris-Hilton-ish girliness, it’s really growing on me. I guess I’ll only be using it whenever I need to jazz up a plain outfit.

Anyway…. holiday! Woo hoo! Excited! Travelling with best buds from school! Woo hoo! Went by Fireflyz, thank God they did not disappoint. Arrived safe and sound, proceeded to rent a car. Last time, was saddled with Worse Car In Langkawi, this time we shopped around a bit. There was a bit of drama in the form of the car rental company insisting that we take a Tiara (brand new! 1 year old! Suitable for girls to drive! auto!) for the same price as a manual Wira which is 5 years. On paper, people who don’t know Malaysian cars would say… what’s wrong with the Tiara? Well, it’s a small car, and we are not 3 petite girls. :p So we insisted on the Wira. The guy kept slashing the price of the Tiara, but didn’t want to give a single discount for the Wira! Don’t know why!

Went out to check the cars out, and the Tiara looked good… the Wira had a creaky door, backlights that didn’t work, a huge dent at the back…. still they didn’t want to give us a discount on the Wira. In case you’re wondering why we are so insistent on the Wira, it’s merely because it’s the biggest national car they had on offer for the price of RM180 for 3 days. We wanted a big car because we foresaw that we would need the boot space. Anyway, when the Tiara was already a ridiculous RM150 for 3 nights, but the Wira was still at RM180… thank goodness that a rival car company saw us all standing in the hot sun and suggested that we rent his manual Persona instead for RM180 for 3 days. 1 year old… We agreed to check his car out, and it turned out to be in good working condition! So glad to be out of the sun that we just paid… no complaints about the car except that it is hard to brake when the road is wet. Thankfully, we only had to drive on wet roads ONCE, it was so sunny those few days!

The bad news was in terms of accomodation.. we stayed at Grand Beach Motel again. One of those few really budget hotels which is still considered expensive, just because it is on the beach. Cross the road and you could get something much better for the RM120 we paid per night. The place was bad… so many ants crawling around, floor that is forever sandy… and the worst part was the toilet that couldn’t flush properly and didn’t even have a sink! We would have to brush teeth using the pail in the toilet… and honestly honestly right? I was so afraid of taking a dump (because toilet cannot flush properly) that I became constipated for the next 3 days. True story! :( :( :(

Didn’t do much on the first day… cos we arrived late in the evening. After car drama, we went straight to Kuah town to do our first round of shopping. Got ourselves some Hoegaarden, Hooch, Canadian ice wine and lots of crisps for the first night partying. Also had dinner at this rather nice Chinese restaurant along Pantai Cenang. It’s cheap if you don’t have any seafood I suppose. ;p Though the waitresses are brusque, they ended up quite nice to us at the end of the night. So no complaints. It’s called Palm View. ;)

To be continued…
