Four Days – Dodgy People March 3, 2011

Final instalment of the Langkawi trip… after which you will have to do with less picture-filled entries. :P

There’s nothing much to say about the last day. After all, we went back in the afternoon. Dull was horribly sick on the last day, and I found out what happened from Fuzz as we had lunch together. We wanted to go to Breakfast Bar, but it was still closed. So sad! So we went back to D’Melati, the place where you should only eat when you have a lot of time to spare. Actually, we didn’t have time, what with Dull being sick and sleeping in the car, but boh pian. The restaurant was crazy inefficient that day :
- gave me the wrong order twice… kept trying to serve me the wrong food!
- mixed up Fuzz and my soup, so that even when we specifically asked, “Is *this* the cream of asparagus?” -__- We only thought of swapping when we were halfway thru!
- staff said it only takes 15 minutes, but of coz they took their own sweet time

Such a difference from the previous day! But then again that day we *did* have all the time in the world to wait for our food, so maybe we didn’t get as annoyed. I was quite disappointed with my chef’s sandwich. We thought that anything with the prefix of “Chef’s” would be truly good. After all, the “Chef’s Salad” we had the other day was fantastic. But this sandwich was like a few pieces of ham and some sad veggies. Didn’t look like the picture at all! Sigh… Tron, I tell you the turkey ham ciabatta sandwich I made for you is sooo much better. ;P

Ok, anyway! To tell you about the drama from the night before (after I had fallen asleep after partying at Sunba). Actually, it’s not really drama. Just that Fuzz and Dull went out to sit at the benches facing the sea to enjoy the sea breeze. Fuzz was also accompanying Dull who was trying to finish the remainder 1/3 bottle of ruby port wine. After they were chit chatting for a while, suddenly the chalet nearest to their bench had the lights turned on. Fuzz was like, “oh crap, did we make that much noise that we woke someone up? But we were just talking normally!” Out came two Indian guys in towels. So dodgy! Who would either :
a. be hanging around the room in towels only? If you are a guy, how would you feel if your room mate walks around in a towel only at 3:30am in the morning? Lol!!!
b. or purposely wear a towel to go outside and meet girls?

Predictably, they wanted to “get to know” Dull… and the pick up line was.. “Do you know how to speak Tamil?” Hahahhaa! Anyway, Dull spoke to them in Tamil, so Fuzz didn’t know what was going on. Later, Dull informed her that the guys were interested in drinking with them, and said that they had a bottle of alcohol that they could share with them, or they could go and buy juice or soft drinks or beer or whatever the girls wanted to drink. -___- And that time was 3:30am – 4am already… what stores are open? It’s Langkawi… they would have to find some 24 hr thingy that caters to tourists… not sure if there is. Anyway, this Dull must’ve been drunk cos she really considered their offer. -____- And asked Fuzz if she know what place is open late at night. Fuzz sent her an sms saying, “Dude, after you see this sms, pretend it’s from your mom and then say you have to call her back in the chalet.” This Dull read the sms and didn’t do as Fuzz asked… hahahaa! Damn funny. In the end, Fuzz manged to get Dull back into the chalet, so the Indian guys must’ve thought Fuzz was major cockblock… hahahhahaa….

Anyway, I just wanted to write that out because I think guys who come out in towels are soooooo dodgy. When Dull casually asked them why they came out in their towels, they said something like, “Oh, we were wearing shorts just now, but decided to change into towels.” WTF!! What kind of logic is that!? I asked Fuzz… what would you do if they suddenly just dropped their towels in front of you two? Then she also said she don’t know what to do …

Go away, dodgy guys!! Girls on holiday, drinking wine doesn’t instantly mean that we are looking for men!

Oh, and we went to some duty-free stores near our hotel… Fuzz needed to do some last minute shopping. I keep telling myself that I have way too much perfume, but I really like the Incanto Shine that she bought (I have a bottle of Incanto Dream and I have barely used it! And thinking of getting another one… siao!), and the new Britney Spears perfume – Radiance is really nice too…. the bottle, I mean. Hehehe!

Hola Boba July 8, 2010

Updating on makan-time and gatherings and such, because it’s long overdue. :P

First off, my aunt (from my dad’s side) organised a birthday celebration for my amah. There’s nicer photos on Kris’s camera (he succumbed and got a dSLR), but when I tried to copy over the photos, the Mac wouldn’t recognise my external harddisk. F*** these proprietary stuff. -__- Anyway, make do with pictures from my camera. It was held at Restaurant New Paris in PJ… a simple do, but with delicious food. Thanks aunty! :D

The most “eventful” part of the night for me was when I was trying to help my grandma cut the cake, and then I was a bit nervy over it because I am always scared to make the first cut, and then my grandmother told me something like, I should give her back the knife to pose as Kris was still taking photos. Wtf! As if I was trying to steal her limelight or something. -___- Very boh song! Very boh song am I over that. -__- Next time, not gonna help the elderly cut cake or whatev!

Dad, Andrew, Kris and LY. Andrew playing games on Kris’s HTC..

Amah talking to my sis… asking my sister if the man with her is her boyfriend wtf! She got some “old people’s disease”, can’t remember stuff. I keep asking my sister to trick her, like occasionally tell her she is still single, then say she’s divorced, etc.

They were trying to keep the candles lighted up… the wind blowing from the vent was super strong. :O

Secondly, my team leader randomly treated us to a great lunch at Country Mart in Bangi. Superb 2 hour lunch… great time off work, hahahaa. All of us don’t know what’s the occasion… and no one dares to ask. -__-”

Hema, Umma and Putera.

Bubur chacha that doesn’t look too appealing… I’ll ensure the one I make will look better than this!

Lastly, I paid for my brother’s birthday celebration at Italiannies in Empire Gallery, Subang. One of my new favorite restaurants! Actually, I wanted to eat in Chillis as I do not fancy Italian food that much, and I told my parents to get ready by 7pm. I didn’t make a booking as 7pm Friday… I thought it would be ok. But trust my parents la… got ready by 7:45pm only… and when Chillis was SUPER PACKED (everyone happily stuck into their chairs to watch the footie game), before they could blame me for not making a booking… I lied and said I made a booking but lost it cos I was late. Hahhaha… COULD HAVE BEEN TRUE also. :p

Anyway, we ate a WHOLE LOT in Italiannies. I showed the pics to L and L said, “I think Hakka people eat a lot…!” But in defense of Hakka people… I am actually Teochew (but Hakka-nized by my mom who has brainwashed me with the language, food, behavior) from my dad’s side! Ok, so let’s not blame the Hakkas. :P

I can’t believe that my lil bro is now 20 years old! The funny thing is, I always see myself as still in my early 20s (this may be called DENIAL, but let me be…), so it’s so odd to think my brother to be 20 too. ;P As I said to him, “How come ah.. I think I look 20, but when I look at you, no doubt you look younger la.. how come ah!” HAHA. My brother was so annoyed with me, he said, “Yalah, yalah, you look Japanese lah, you look very young lah…” (cos recently this is what people kept saying to me, in front of WITNESSES).

By the way, let me tell you about my construction worker stalker (hereby known as CWS)… not like it’s something to be proud about (being stalked), but I’m telling this story to say, I AM NOT BEING PERASAN, BUT IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU, WOULD YOU NOT THINK YOU’RE BEING STALKED TOO?? Luckily for me, I always have lunch with Raymond, who looks like “a Petaling Street gangster” (that’s his words, not mine). Lucky cos if CWS does anything, Raymond can easily stop him. Secondly, cos I have a witness that he is stalking me and it’s not all my imagination.

It started at our favorite chap fan kopitiam… and suddenly while eating one day, I suddenly felt like someone was looking at me. I looked up and I saw this dark chinese construction worker looking at me and smiling. I didn’t think much about it, but later on when I looked up, he was still looking at me! Creepy! I said to Raymond, “Eh eh, is he looking at me ah?” and Raymond confirmed it! After that incident, I always noticed he would try to always sit with me in his line of vision. I memang never perasan myself super sexy or gorgeous, so I don’t know what this CWS is thinking also. -__- And no, I don’t wear super short skirts or skirts with super high slits. -___- Or sit with my legs kang kang. -________-

The #1 creepy incident just happened less than a week ago! What happened was the kopitiam was full, so Raymond and I had to sit outside in the hot sun. As we walked out of the kopitiam with our plates of chap fan, we walked past CWS, who was seated next to Fruit Man (the guy who sells fruits la). Purposely sat far away from Fruit Man so I wouldn’t feel CWS eyeballing me. Then FML, later in the middle of lunch I happened to look up and I saw that CWS had repositioned his sitting position to be behind Raymond, so that he was facing me! WTF! And yes, he was looking at me! What is wrong with CWS!

The next part is even creepier… I finished my lunch and then walk back to Fruit Man to buy fruits (our normal activity), and after buying fruits, I happened to look back and then I saw that CWS had repositioned himself AGAIN to be sitting where I had sat earlier! WTF!

Ok what’s your explanation, if it’s me just being perasan! After an incident like that, really don’t think I’m perasan lor. Anyway, I told this story while laughing to my parents, and my mom said the guy is so scary, and yet I don’t feel worried. Probably because I know Raymond Petaling Street gangster is around? Like the past two days, he’s on leave, so I didn’t go eat chap fan… had to survive on cereals in the office wtf. Hahaha. Raymond, please come back from leave before I die of malnutrition!

Pictures from bro’s birthday celebration under the cut! :)

Letters Home Part 4 January 9, 2010

Entry #13
I just finished watching “Maid in Manhattan” (seriously no chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes — I’m also distracted by his strangely creepy smile which shows off his weird pebble teeth), and am distracted by a live performance of Take That singing “It Only Takes A Minute” in concert. Gosh! Take That!! That was sooooooo Standard 6 ok. I still remember how happy I was when my sis and I were saving up for the cassette tape and then strangely my dad suddenly bought it for us. I still have that cassette. It was so strange… how did he know that we liked Take That? We rarely share such information with our parents. Maybe my dad likes their songs too, hehehe. Anyway, that live performance was so provocative ok… one of the members suddenly started pole dancing (yes, a GUY pole dancing) and then I felt like, wtf, I want to learn pole dancing too.

Today was a milestone in our work here, we patched a great freaking lot of errors in the system to production, I pushed in my new reporting program, etc. Tomorrow, Mr Tuan will be leaving to go back to Vietnam, I’ll be left with my new roomie who I am suddenly fond of. Tell you something weird she told me today. She said that last time she worked for a software house that didn’t have enough laptops for all the staff. When not enough laptop and another staff have to go overseas for work, they packed their PC to go wtf. HAHAHAHA. And yes, they were always over the weight limit. WTF. HAHAHAHA. And that time the monitors (which they also packed) was not flat screen but the old school CRT type. You know last time I bought my new flat screen monitor, I traded in my old school CRT one? When I told that to my colleagues, they said 50 sen also the computer shop don’t want. I said I got RM10 for it, and the computer shop owner said, “Why are you treating my shop like a rubbish dump.” And then he said he will turn the CRT monitor into an aquarium.

I am dying to buy more souvenirs to bring back home, but no time and no money. The crazy staff here (Mr Sia and AhSiang) really go and calculate the exchange rates like madfcuks. They will even exchange very exact USD in order to make sure when they round up / down the Lao kip, they suffer the lowest of lows of losses or no losses at all. Anyway, we get slightly better staff rates when exchanging USD for kip. I hope US market doesn’t fall any lower… wtf… at least while I’m here. If it falls lower, at least do it when I’m back in Malaysia. If it reaches 3.0, I will open a foreign currency account. Cos I’m sure as hell it will climb back up again. I’m that sure. Hahaha.

After work, I managed to convince them to go to the Joma Bakery which my sister’s friend’s Laotian gf recommended. Said the coffee is good, but I think the pizza even better. This freaking huge slice for about RM8… it was soft and so filling. And then washed it down with a cappucino freeze that was quite bad, but not as bad as the coffee I had in Cambodia. It’s about RM6, so definitely cannot compare with Starbucks lar. We had our usual soyabean with cincau after that. Crap… I’m turning quite cina hanging out with these 3 old people… they are like talking cantonese all the time, so I will follow as well. That’s a good thing though… I don’t really mind. But the better my chinese, the worse my english. A good telling point is when those people say that my english is good. Don’t laugh your arse off, I got an A1 in my triple-one-nine after all. Hahaha.

Store from the outside

Interior inside… quite a comfy little coffee house. Very popular with all the gwai loh backpackers!

You can get yourself a souvenir if you love the bakery / cafe THAT much.

AhSiang placing his order…

Some yummy looking sandwich..

Meat pizza! Really really good. The coffee is meh, but the pizzas are yummmmmm!

Oh yeah, this Tuan and Wong rented bicycles for the past two days. The people here are soooooo weird. They rented the bikes for 10,000 kip a day. NO NEED PAY IN ADVANCE. And then NO COLLATEROL. And then.. they told the lady, it was for one day, but ended up due to working late and karaoke sessions, they kept the bike for 2 days. Today they returned it and the lady didn’t scold or complain or anything. GOSH. These people are soooooooo trusting la. If they joined the bank as loan officers, sure we end up with lots of bad debt. KAKAKA. Anyway, since Tuan and Nguyen left earlier to go with their friends to … I donno what… Tuan asked me to cycle his bike back. This AhSiang smartly said he would ride pillion on Wong’s bike, which left Mr Sia to either be pillion on my bike, or I be pillion. I wanted to cycle, so I said I would ride. But once I got on that stupid bike, it was soooo wobbly. Plus I had to sling the laptop around my bike. I remember being a pretty good cyclist when I was younger, but the stupid thing kept swaying towards the right, and the seat was high so I frequently had to use my legs as brakes (tip toe). THen I also felt bad that if I was to ride properly, Mr Sia had to walk and carry my laptop bag for me. WTF. OF course he didn’t dare to ride pillion while I cycled because I was sooooooo unstable. So then I let him cycle and I walk, cos I didn’t trust HIM cycling either. He wasn’t having such a good time of it, and most of the time he used his legs as brakes as well, besides, he is damn tall, so him using his legs as brakes is much easier than me. :(

Conclusion : I ran home and Mr Sia cycled. Of course, when we got back, Wong and AhSiang who had no problems laughed like hell at me. Donno what la.. they said Mr Sia looked like the boss cycling to work and I look like the maid running after him saying “Sir, sir.. you forgot your laptop”. WTF… hahaha.

Anyway, it was another fun day here… and since there was a lot of work completed, it was also satisfying in a way. Very rewarding. :3
