Based on my expected personal calendar, you might think that I’ve been busy this Christmas taking care of my nephew. Yes, I’m becoming an “aunty” soon, and it’s nothing that I’m embarassed or shy about! I embrace this with total joy! Who wouldn’t want to become an aunty? In fact, I hope to become an aunty many many times over! But guess what? My sister didn’t give birth on the schedulled date after all, and she didn’t want to be induced. Don’t ask me why, my mom and I don’t know the reason. Maybe she read an article somewhere that said that babies who are NOT induced are 300x cleverer than babies which are induced.
Nephew oh nephew, when will you come out and play? Don’t you know that Aunty Leechie has bought a very nice rocker for you?!?!
Anyway, hope you all had a great Christmas celebration! I definitely enjoyed myself very much. Everything was extra “Christmassy” for me this year, let me show you why…
Tron delivered turkey to my house on Christmas Eve’s Eve. Hehee! Thank you Uncle John & Aunty Jane!
My dad and mom were so happy, Tron even described my dad’s face as “glowing”. Lol!
But I’m getting ahead of myself… here’s what we did, in chronological order:
Had breakfast in Backofen in Sri Hartamas! Not a bad brekkie place, Sookie & Ching, can consider here for the next meet-up!
I had the meatloaf sandwich, while Tron had the big breakfast.

The place is apparently famous for their pastries, but didn’t buy anything to eat later because the breakfast was already super filling! After that, Tron went off to The Guitar Shop, and tried to train me to become a guitar enthusiast. But I’m so completely lost. I know nuts about guitars, what more electric guitars that seem to have a lot of random things you need to plug in in order to get the “sound” that you want. Dull was very kind and tried to give me a laymans’ understanding of such things, but you know how noob I am? I’m so noob that I didn’t even know that John Mayer plays a guitar. Hahahahaahahaha. I was like “He’s a guitarist? Then how come his songs don’t have him playing guitar?”
Dull : “Er.. his songs DO have him playing on a guitar.”
Me : “Oh… but how come got no guitar solos and shit like that.”
Dull : “Got lah!”
Me : “Oh….”
Cue awkward silence.

Because Tron was spending soooo much time at The Guitar Shop, he decided to temporarily place me at Starbucks so I won’t get bored. I got bored anyway because the Starbucks at Sri Hartamas doesn’t have much reading material. I’m contemplating stashing a book with me wherever I go from now on so that whenever Tron decides to indulge in random “projects” like this, I will be suitably well-accompanied.

Having said that, have you gotten a Starbucks card? It’s quite worth it. Works like a debit card, and once you register the card, you get a free grande size of any drink.
After accompnying the boy til the evening, he sent me home so that we can get ready for the church Xmas eve event. We had an early dinner before going to church. USUALLY, we would have dinner at Jaya 33 (as it’s near to our church), and USUALLY, we would eat at D’Italianne Kitchen, because both of us like the food there. However, the other day, the staff got some stick up their butt or something and were rude to me. I wanted to eat a DIK for lunch (indulge a bit) as that day I was on leave and the other alternative was Subway. I had just finished gym, and at the same time, wanted to make it quick because I had just remembered that I left my “other” wallet in the office (the wallet with important documents but no money, lol), so I thought I would just eat a salad and then go get my wallet.
When I went into D’Italianne Kitchen, it was around 11am, and I noticed they were still setting the cutleries. I said, “Excuse me?” to one of the staff and she shouted at me, “YES? WHAT YOU WANT?” FFFFUUUU… I was like.. “Are you all ready to open?” and she sulkily replied, “Give me 15 minutes.” Like what the farrrrk. It’s already 11am, not like I’m thrashing your place at 8:30am or something ridiculous. Her face and her voice and her attitude was such a turn off I just said, “No thanks then” and wound up eating Subway.
Maybe she just had a bad day. Cos USUALLY the staff there are quite nice and placid people. But for now I wanna boycott that restaurant as long as I can (before “for convenience sake” I end up there again. I know right, such weak principles). She’s lucky that Tron was not with me, because if someone shouts at him, he would think that it is a challenge to have a “who can shout the loudest” match. Tron will surely win. ;P
So we wound up in Vietnam Kitchen, which has pretty good food too… only problem is that whenever I’m there, I only eat their beef noodles. =p

The church celebration was pretty interesting. A lot of song & dance and praise & worship and also an interesting piece by my pastor called “the 5 wonders of Christmas” which is really an eye-opener about the whole miracle at Bethlehem. I don’t want to expound too much about the rest of the Xmas presentation, less I wind up like David Sedaris and his critical reviews of school plays.
Sunday church service was a continuation from the previous day’s sermon, the only difference was that I was serving in the welcoming committee. Oh, I didn’t tell you about that huh? Yes, I’m part of the welcoming committee in the church. You might wonder at an anti-social person like me being all friendly and wishing you a good morning and asking you whether I can find you a seat right upfront. This is both the mystery and the answer all in one. To solve my anti-social-ness and fear of public speaking, this is a solution that has been provided to me. I could write an entire post dedicated to what I’m doing, but I don’t think most would appreciate my humour.
Once church service was over, Tron and I had to settle some outstanding contract stuff, and then he sent me home… right in time to have the turkey celebration my mom was throwing! And she was planning to exclude me, some thanks I get considering my boyfriend is the one who supplied the turkey! Ok, the story is that my mom was pissed off at me and my dad. My dad for reasons that are personal, but she’s pissed off at me because I was in the middle of working (working from home) and I was on the phone (in a conference call) and she starts nagging me why I didn’t take the clothes in. WTF? I didn’t even notice it had started DRIZZLING. Secondly, I was in a CONFERENCE call. Thirdly, did I mention that I was working? And what was she doing that was so important that she didn’t realise it was drizzling? She was watching TV!! So anyway I was quite agitated over that, so she got pissed off at me.
Anyway, when the turkey came in, she suddenly became a forgiving mother again (she had been pissed at me for nearly a week) and somehow it turned on this “party / social” person inside her and she decided to throw a lunch party, centered around the turkey. She invited a few relatives, but to be honest, only the “core family” turned up lah. Hahahahaa! Still, it didn’t stop her from making a party out of it. Aside from the turkey & stuffing, my very pregnant sister volunteered to make pesto pasta and roasted vegetables, and my mom made jelly and popped open a bottle of red.
It was the most Christmassy celebration we ever had. Eating turkey, pasta, drinking red wine, watching Christmas with the Kranks… that’s the closest we ever got. =)

Too bad that she is still pissed off at my dad, for reasons that I will tell you in a separate entry. Different from the first reason. Hahahahhaa!
Boxing day — no sales in Malaysia (well, none that are tied to “Boxing Day” I suppose). Wound up having bak kut teh with Tron in Teluk Pulai, Klang. He said that BKT is so fattening, that he can only bring me to eat it once a year. -___-” Can you believe it? We ate this meal in the morning (around 8:30am) and until night, I was still full to the brim!! Insanity…

How was your Christmas celebration? Hope it was meaningful and fun! And hopefully I’ll be able to post up a few more blog entries before it turns 2012…

Baked lamb rack, french baguette to go with mushroom soup — both made by JP, spicy sausage & pea pasta, baked chicken, quiche (forgot who made, but I think people from Elaine’s cell) and the mashed potato is Dora’s signature dish.
Prisca and her lucky draw prize. FYI, I was in charge of the lucky draw numbering and the bits of paper to draw out the lucky draw numbers too! Nice a not the font… ?
JP got Elaine’s submission for the lucky draw. We were saying that even the packaging is worth more than RM5 ady.
This is me laughing like mad after I got what I was supposed to describe for the ice-breaking session. Honestly, I don’t even remember why I’m laughing so madly… Not like the job descriptions are vulgar… hahaha.
MinSer on guitar!
Dora’s dramatic lashes… fuuh!
Food spread… yummers!
Carolling session
All the food!!! And the “soup” for the steamboat was made by JP — some concoction involving chicken and soya beans.
The whole group. Back row: KS, Kenny, Allen, MS, JL, me, Tina, Kelly, Samuel. Front row: Andrew O, JP, Alan, Pauline, Dora, TN and Andrew T.
TN and Tina with baby Alyssa.
The males of the cell group : Kenny, Andrew T, Allen, KS, MS, Alan, Samuel and Andrew O.
Me with the celebrity couple of the moment. FYI, JL’s red top looked exceptionally good in all the photos! It really stands out. JL so clever in picking out what to wear.
The females of the cell group (back) : JP, TN, JL, me, Tina. (Front) – Kelly, Pauline and Dora.
Random one because I was avoiding the camerawoman Pauline… finally she tak tahan and asked me to join in this group shot. Myself, Allen and Andrew O. Very “blue” photo hor?
Always must have 1 serious photo and 1 crazy one. Hahahha. How come Kelly and Samuel not being crazy?
The most awesome dessert ever! It’s a pavlova, and it was the first time that JP made it! And it’s such a success that within 15 minutes, it’s all gone! The bottom is meringue, the middle is fresh cream and topped off with fresh mango & lychee. This Andrew T very bad… ate some, then asked JP for some more for his wife (who was upstairs looking after the baby).. then he ate half of it, then asked some more for the wife (saying that JP gave too little the first time around). Hahahaha!!
Digestion period… I am marvelling over the polaroid photos that Dora took of all of us with MS & JL. Sh-sh-shake it like a polaroid picture…~
Being a “pun mooi” (maid) at the end of the day as very bad if we use Andrew T & TN’s place and leave it a mess ya..
Another shot of the girls of the cell…~
JL & MS with the present that we got for them. Must hang up in their house in Miri!
The early comers… hahaha.
Wishing you a good life in Miri… may blessings pour upon you so that you can be a blessing to others as well.
