Troubles They Come & Go June 8, 2007

ARGHHHHH. I am so damn forgetful. Last week was my handbag, on Wednesday, I left my handphone in the office. This time wasn’t that bad though, I knew for a fact that I had left it on my desk. The possibility of someone taking it was very very low, but I still couldn’t shake off my doubt and paranoia. So I drove the extra 30 minutes back to the office (luckily I was at the gym when I realised my loss, and the gym is nearer to my office than my house). Once I reached the office, I thought, “What the hell, since I’m here I might as well get some work done.” Ended up staying for about an hour. SIGH.

There’s so much random stuff that’s bugging me right now. Not totally superbly IMPORTANT, MUST GET IT DONE STAT stuff, but still annoying shit anyway. Like, my sink is clogged again, and this time my miracle mixture of vinegar and soda bicarbonate doesn’t work. While working on unclogging the sink, I realised that I needed to clean my toilet, and freaking drove to Carrefour to buy a whole lot of superpowerful-sounding stuff to clean with. I was hoping that this would be another case of spending money to inspire me to do something. It worked with gym, taking care of my complexion and reading…

(Talking about gym, I bumped into KAR HENG at there yesterday after capoeira. Haha, I’m always happy when I find avid gym-goers who I know too. Last time in FF there was Syazmyl / Tan-Tan / Amin but they HARDLY go… *no offense* Kar Heng looks like a hardcore gymrat! :D )

Then I have to spend time preparing the stuff for the annual dinner theme awards. Have to visit the tailor / costume rental place at some unfamiliar place. Scared I get lost. -__-” Seriously, at times like this, I really wonder why I even bother. Most people whine about “nothing to wear” for their annual dinner, and they just mean a regular formal dress. What about if you want to dress like Bugs Bunny / Road Runner / Spongebob Squarepants! (Yes, the theme for the annual dinner is ‘World of Cartoons’…) Argh, I just spoke to the dude @ the costume shop and he said he doesn’t do custom-made props if he doesn’t tailor the costume as well. >_< Now I have to make the props myself. Double argh!

Had to see the doctor about my wonky left eye. For some reason, my left eye is really weak and is always ‘weeping’. It got a little bit better with eye drops, but generally always gets eye poo more than the right one. Sorry if I’m grossing you out. >=p But anyway, the doctor said that I don’t have an eye infection, I’m just ALLERGIC to something. WTF! Anyway, he gave me some damn powerful eyedrops… lets see if it clears up. *damn sick and tired of my wonky left eye*

Lastly, have to finish all my personal projects. Yeah yeah, all unimportant stuff in your eyes, its just that I’ve been meaning to complete them ages ago, so it is really a pain to keep seeing the same things appear on my to-do list. So why the hell am I still up blogging here. -_-” Because… there’s EXCITING news (to me) to be shared… namely :
TIENG YEE / THINGY is going to be back in Malaysia!! Next week! I don’t know for how long (busy woman can have time to inform me but not reply me?), but I told myself this time I must not get too hyped up. After all, that cow Lumpy Lock didn’t even contact me ONCE since he came back, although beforehand he was telling me that he could meet me for weekends AND weekday nights. *sigh* And then the bestest male friend / bitching partner is coming back too! Just after I’m back from the Singapore trip. *happiness* For some reason, we started talking about his “gang” back in college, and this fake journal that we wrote about the gang. Damn lebih-lebih wei. But go read the fake journal, its damn funny! Especially the comments. XD

Anyway, June is really looking up for me now! I have a free Clinique facial to go for, the Singapore trip to look forward to (only 2 more weeks!), my friends coming back… *happy again* There’s not much left to talk to you about, so I’ll sign off here today with more random pictures from the Seremban food trip and our IT Division’s futsal team. Last year, we were inspired by them to play futsal because they got a placing in the inter-division futsal tourney. This year they didn’t do so well, but feel inspired all the same. P.S: Check out these entries for pictures of girls who are were in the girl’s futsal team.

This is called the ‘kirin prawn’. Known for being very ‘clean’… as you can see, there’s none of the ‘black stuff’ inside prawns. So its easy to cook, just dump into the frying pan and you’re done! It was featured on 8tv’s “Ho Chiak” programme as well.

Seremban Makan Trip Pt 3 (de finale) May 10, 2007

Yay! Here’s the last instalment of the Seremban Makan Trip series. Enjoy! And any Seremban-ites who wish to comment on where the good food can be found, do comment. So far I have had Jenifur telling me about claypot lo shi fun and Sifoo Wong saying that the best hakka mee can be found in S’ban too!

Alrighty, so picking up from the beef noodle store where we last left off, we decided to go to Seremban Jusco. What for? Don’t know. :p We were all supposed to go there for bowling & movies, but turned out that the only nice movie showing then was Spiderman 3 (haven’t finished bitching about it with Ben, btw) and some of us had already watched it. So, the gang split up to do other stuff. Michael, Justin, Daniel and I played bowling! Ya, went all the way to Seremban just to bowl… As for my other colleagues, they played pool, some of them went shopping, SiuChui went for a haircut(!!!) and some of them just whiled the few hours away in a bookstore. T_T Really random stuff.

Aksi-aksi buat bodoh…

Daniel is definitely the most consistent amongst all of us. He always gets at least 4 – 5 strikes per game. AT LEAST. And as for Michael, I know his ‘style’ of bowling already. He will start off really badly (like worse than me), but then suddenly he’s bowling strikes all the way and astounding the resident bowler Daniel. ^^ For me, I have discovered my ‘bowling secret’, which is to use the 10lb ball!! Anything less and I’ll end up with splits even though the ball goes straight down the alley. Anyway, I’m just happy that towards the end I got a few strikes. :D

Wei Nee and her husband took over the reins as the “Seremban Guides” after we left Jusco. First stop, they brought us to the “Seremban Siew Bau Empire”. It is in the Malaysia Book of Records for something-or-other. When we passed by the place, it looked so AMAZINGLY huge. It had a giant carpark, and we imagined that there were giant ovens with millions of siew baos inside. Sadly, the place had like 30 char siew baos (pork buns) only! Gah! And if we wanted more, we had to wait for 20 minutes. Cicakman bought 15 or 20 straightaway, and in the end, I ended up with TWO pathetic char siew baos. ~_~” Got some other yummy stuff there as well, like salted egg cookies, kayan kok (kaya puffs), chicken siew bao and egg tarts. But like what some of my colleagues said, it’s the CHAR SIEW BAO that matters… :( Stupid “empire” with only 30 siew baos!!!

It was a super hot day, so WeiNee and her husband treated us all to a deliciously refreshing ABC. Don’t know how much it cost, but it has all the stuff I like – jelly, cendol, red bean, raisins… all in a lovely condensed milk & ice concoction! There were also small hawker stores we saw while walking to this restaurant, so we could buy some snacks. I got a piece of JELLY. Hahaha. It was so hot, could only think of buying cooling stuff and not fried foods.

Drove to another place that sold more siew baos… didn’t feel like buying more since it’s not that cheap anyways. This place is rather famous too. Saw a few outlets around Seremban. It’s called “Kee Mei Siew Pau”.

There was a short stopover at WeiNee’s house before going for dinner. Could play PS2, mahjong, uno, or bathe while WeiNee treated us all so nicely. Her house is seriously spectacular. It’s 2.5 storeys of spacious tasteful furnishing! When you go in, you have to climb one flight of stairs to reach the dining area and kitchen. And when you look out of the kitchen window, it’s the backyard! It confused us until WeiNee explained that her house is on a slope, so when you climb up 1 flight of stairs, it’s like climbing up the slope, still got ground when you look out of the window!! Eeeh, so special y’know! No pictures of her house because this time I’m not a housepest. At about 6pm, we left to have “dinner before barbequed crabs”. This was where the misunderstanding arose. A lot of people thought that the “last meal of the day” was a grand 10 course dinner of barbequed seafood delicacies. In fact, it’s only the barbequed crabs that was being sought after. Of course, one can’t get full on just seafood crabs, which was why we went for the pork offal porridge (zhu zhap zhuk) beforehand. My poor colleagues who joined us for the seafood crabs didn’t know, so they drove all the way down from KL just to eat the crabs! Hahaha, so poor thing. At work on Monday, Bean said, “This is the most difficult journey I ever made just for dinner…”.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket But allow me to rave about the pork offal porridge first. It is sooooo delicious, cheap and worth your money! For only RM3.50, you get this HUGEEEEE bowl of porridge, with all kinds of pork offal inside (liver, intestine, stomach). The rice is flavourful, the pork offal is well-cooked. The place is so popular that within 30 minutes of opening, the place is packed, and the time it takes from order being placed til food being served is almost 30 minutes. But it is well worth the wait. Hahaha. It is so ironic that this is the best dish for the trip. A lot of my colleagues thought that this dish was better than the beef noodles. ^^

And of course, here are the “travel down from KL” worthy barbequed crabs. They are barbequed, and then smothered with a light marmite sauce. I think it’s marmite. Mind you, this place is freaking expensive. RM42 for 1kg of crabs. The cost for the meal here is even more expensive than the meal at Ocen Restaurant in Sepang, and there we had so many other dishes! Mr AIP said that we should’ve ordered 8kgs per table and eat until we swear off crabs forever. “That is the way you should eat barbequed crabs…” he said sagely. Er… ok.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Another super misunderstanding that occurred was that WanLi and WanAi felt bad that the “travelled down from KL” colleagues only got to eat a bit, so they planned to bring us all to eat “yu tao mai” after that. However, just when they announced the plans, the “travelled down from KL” colleagues said that they were so hungry that they had ordered wah tan hor (soupy noodles) already from the restaurant. ~_~” So the rest of us pigs went to eat “yu tao mai” alone. And it is niceeeeeee…. especially with the store’s “signature” pineapple & sour plum juice. The restaurant is opposite Terminal 2, but I don’t know the exact place. As fro “yu tao mai”, apparently you can get it in KL, but I’ve never tasted it before! According to Cicakman, there is fried fish pieces, meehoon, condensed milk, salted veg, sour plum and other ‘secret ingredients’. It sounds unappetizing, but the soup is spicy and tangy, yet sweet. Really unique! *jakun*jakun*

After that, we said farewell and took 45 minutes to travel back to KL. *phew* Thanks to Michael for being such a great pal and driving us around. Thanks to WanLi, WanAi and WeiNee for showing us all around… hehehe! Next trip, must force Raymond to be the tour guide already. ^^ Argh, and now that the dim sum trip this weekend is cancelled (due to Mother’s Day… I forgot!!!), I’m gonna have to spend the next 2 days thinking of what to give my mom(s)! XD

Seremban Makan Trip Pt 2 (de food) May 9, 2007

Hehe, let’s see if I can actually finish the Seremban trip with this last posting. Grr, I am so mad today la! Got a lot of random BAD stuff happening to me, and some people can be just so incredibly dismissive of others. Whack you then you know!! Somehow managed to make it through the day, but *really* hope I can have a less hectic day tomorrow… Anyway, I think it’s about time I take a random day off from work.

After the dinner at Ocen Restaurant in Sepang, we went to this “chalet” at PKNS Sepang. It’s “beachfront” property, but the kinda beach that no one wants to swim in or have picnics at. Anyway, I was just grateful for somewhere cheap to spend the night. It cost RM16 per person only for 3 rooms. Got TV and aircond. Er, even though I say I’m grateful for it it doesn’t mean I wanna go there again, ya. The place is small and there were ANTS all over the living room floor. Don’t know how we managed to just plonk ourselves on the ground and play mahjong til the wee hours of the morning also.

Only one word : FANATIC. -___-” After a while, we don’t even notice the ants anymore because we’re all staring at our tiles. ;p

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Oh not bad la, they gave us a color TV. Even though the screen is smaller than my LCD monitor…

Michael and Ah Siang modelling the ‘living room’, which is the small floor (covered with ants), and two armchairs (that is piled with luggage, cos bedroom is way too small to dump the luggage there).

Some played Uno… so called legendary after-half-hour-still-not-finished Uno gaming!! My colleagues are obsessed with Uno! O_o”

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
And some play mahjong. I’m sure you can guess which team I’m on. In case you can’t, just look below:

And in case you were wondering, HE’S the one who came up with this pose.

The next morning, it was sunny and the beach view was quite nice. Lots of pictures were taken…

Have to mention that sleeping in the chalet was the suffering-est thing we ever did! It was 5 to a room, and while booking the room, most of my colleagues made a fuss about having airconditioning. Kept saying things like, “I cannot live without AC” and “AC is the most important”. The landlord WARNED us that the AC seems mild AT FIRST but will grow super cold by night time. And he was right! I was FROZEN in my room, but dare not say anything, because I thought the rest of them were enjoying the icy goodness. In the morning, turned out everyone thought it was too cold, but everyone thought that everyone else LOVED it. Bodoh babi!!! XD

The first place we stopped off after we left the chalet at was a normal coffee shop in Sepang. Was about to go crazy ordering food when WanAi said that this place was just a “stopover” before eating breakfast, as the breakfast place we were headed to is 45 minutes away. Hapus. Afraid to spoil my appetite, all I took was a coffee. And this picture of Justin enjoying his “expensive” yong tau foo noodles:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Our “official” first stop was for Seremban beef noodles. A bit different from the one in KL, but I still prefer the beef noodles near HSBC, Petaling Street. This one was an interesting experience, and my colleagues say that the kon lo (dry) version is better than the soup one.

The “ching tong” (soup) version. Didn’t try this. Thought would have loads of other food to sample. And that’s dried spicy beef jerky…

Gaaaaahh! Time to sleep. Can’t believe I have to stretch a day trip into 3 entries. Anyway, some good news! Cross-dressing Jian Huar is coming back to Malaysia and he actually got time to layan his so-called younger sister (that’s me, even though I’m older by 2 yrs… or is it 3?? O_o”)! Happiness! The problem now is where I can bring him to when he’s back…

But who cares la, yay, got someone to layan me already! And some of us at the office are planning another trip to Penang (got the rules laid out already : no penny pinching + alcohol + fooooooooooood = plan for success!), and there’s also Simon’s trip to plan… wooh! Even a dim sum outing this weekend has me happy as a clam.

Ok, will stop blogging. Continue tomorrow with :
~ food for a hot day
~ when in Seremban Jusco, you must… _____
~ barbequed crab misunderstandings
~ yu tao mai (special noodle soup dish with CONDENSED MILK inside, omg, I jakun, never see before!)
~ the SIEW BAO empire…
~ pork offal porridge aka ‘zhu zhap zhuk’

Stay tuneeeeed! :D

Seremban Makan Trip (and then some) May 7, 2007

Ookay, it’s too freaking hot to blog today. I’m sitting here and sweating bullets, feeling grumpy and hungry. So no mooooood. -___-” But I bugged Justin like hell for the pictures, so I can only do his ‘hard work’ justice by blogging it by today as well. ;) Oh guess what? I’m ‘officially’ a systems analyst now. As at Friday, actually. Sounds so professional, huh? And yes, I’m a heckuva happy Leech.

Okay, so about the “Seremban Makan Trip” (hereby known as SMT). It wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be. You see, I thought the main focus would be on the makan (eat) part, but it seemed like the drive between each eating spot was sooooo long that hardly any eating was done at all! Seriously, I expected to be eating once an hour! I expected to actually gain weight! Instead, my colleagues are already looking at me as if I’m a pig because I ate two plates of rice on the first night! Okay, all you skinny girls can just stop being aghasted… two plates of rice is NOTHING ok. I could’ve eaten another plate, stopped only because there was no other lauk to accompany the plain rice. ~_~” But regardless of the lack of makan, I guess it was a good trip to get to know my other colleagues. Don’t really hang out with them much, so it’s nice to talk to them, gossip, bitch, etc etc. :P :p :P

We set off to Sepang after work to eat at “Ocen Seafood Restaurant”. Thought it was going to be a simple 30 minute drive or something. In the end it took almost 2 hours to reach the restaurant! We took some kinda old trunk road, passing through rubber tree fields, oil palm estate, etc etc. Damn scary ok! My colleague who was checking his GPS map said that by the time we reached the restaurant, GPS couldn’t detect what area he was in already. Hahaha! That was how secluded it was. So really, don’t ask me where this place was / how to get there. I really don’t know. ;p

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Poor Michael had two horrible passengers with him. ;) Me and the shameless camwhore Justin. -__-” You won’t believe it, but he took a lot of ‘pan cute’ pictures. Of course, he didn’t pass them on to me to post on my blog…

Trailing behind WanAi’s car… freaking long road ahead…

Here’s the food we ate at Ocen Restaurant. Cicakman kept saying that we shouldn’t spend so much $$ and order so much. Hey! If you go out with me, don’t talk about cost ok! *wahhhh sound like I’m so rich* Ok, I’m not saying I’m super rich or whatever, but I’m sure that for an outing, we all just wanna enjoy ourselves and just eat to our fill. We all came a long way down to Sepang just to… eat a bit? Please la! Of course must eat until we’re filled to our necks… and no “save cost” “save cost” shtick. -__-

I’m sure his petrol to this restaurant costs 2/3 of the meal per person.**
