Johor trip was really fun. Everyone who I told that I was going to JB exclaimed over how mad I was to “drive so far”. To be honest, my screwed up sense of geography thought that JB was in the northern part of Johor. It was only much later (much, much later… like on my way there), did I find out that it was so down South that if I had my passport, I could worm my way down to Singapore.

I was determined to write an extremely detailed entry of everything I did that. I have to thank my friends for showing me around, and taking good care of me. Showing me the sights (even if it was the inside of shopping malls), taking me for ‘famous’ Johor food (the pan meen opposite Plaza Pelangi was indeed mouth-watering), watching anime, DVDs, etc etc. However, in the end I guess I don’t want to bother because it’s enough that I know inside how special the trip was to me. I don’t need to write everything down just to remember it. This sounds like the end of blogging for me. Almost. :(

The only screwed up thing about the whole trip was when I got back, my parents didn’t believe that I went to JB because the odometer showed that I had only travelled about 400km. The trip to JB is about a 350km drive (one way). The only thing I am thinking is — why must they doubt me? Am I that much of a liar that I would even lie about going to JB? Wouldn’t I lie about going somewhere nearer so that it won’t make me seem so “daring” to drive so far? Arggghh… never mind.

My baggage before setting off for the trip. A slingbag filled with my charger and wallet and cool shit like that. (*DIES*) Packet drinks, chips (I didn’t touch a single one until I reached Johor. How to eat and drive at 140kph?), water bottle and my denim blazer. My clothes fit into one handy carry all, and all the DVDs I wanted to watch on my friend’s laptop was fitted into the back of the car. =)

Taken while I was driving along this lonely stretch of road. See how simple it is to get to JB? Drive straight-straight only!~

I had hi-tea buffet the first day! Delicious food that I regret not taking more of. =(

On boring nights in, would bum in the hotel room watching Prince of Tennis on the laptop. I’m hooked.

Mee Rebus at the mamak store opposite the hotel. Was pretty darn good, although the waiter thought I ordered “teh ais” instead of “teh o ais limau”. Therefore, took the lime from the mee rebus and squeezed it into the “teh ais” instead. It doesn’t really work.

Traffic on a Sunday afternoon.

This Japanese ramen restaurant is apparently damn famous in Johor (got a few outlets, in the few shopping malls that I visited), but the place is good at overcharging people. They gave a plate of disgusting wasabi flavoured egg salad and charged us RM5 for it. Bloody hell. Not complimentary, then at least make sure it tastes good right? The serviettes also they want to charge us for. Ok, you can concede that the serviettes are cute, but doesn’t warrant you charging so high for it right? Crazy.

Grape milkshake and kimuchi ramen!

Mango milkshake and beef ramen! Yikes, forgot to take pic of the spider crab sushi. Forgot what it’s called, but it was yummy. =)

Maybe I should have used these as proof to my parents that I really went to JB? On your left is a road signboard pointing to Singapore. On your right is a Johor flag proudly on display. Don’t play play and call me a liar. :(

Pan Meen at the store opposite Plaza Pelangi. “Mit Geh”, just like how we like it. ;)

Hosanna sampling her food. From that proud beam, you can tell that it was indeed delicious.

A ship-designed store (restaurant?? tourist attraction??) at Danga Bay.

The deckchairs on a raised platform by the bay. Looks very inviting, doesn’t it? With the palm trees in the background and all that.

A nice display? Or a drinking fountain?

Hosanna taking her chances with the “drinking fountain”. In inverted commas because we’re not sure whether it’s really fit for drinking. O_o

Another proof that I was at JB — for my parents’ sake!!

Saw this groom and bride taking wedding pictures by Danga Bay. Quite romantic idea, right? Next time I also want to poyo and take outdoor pics. Me running in wedding dress through fields of lalang towards my husband. Mwahahah!

The “Amazing Carnival” at Danga Bay. Not in operation, sadly. It looks like a scary, abandoned fairground. We were the only two people walking around there. :(

Hosanna brought me to this quaint coffeeshop which had famous people’s photos (real photos, not printouts) pasted all over the wall. Very interesting.

Artsy shot of Hosanna, with the “famous people picture wallpaper” behind her. =)

Taufu Bakar, which tasted really good. Dreaming of it now already. Nyek nyek.

“Linner” before leaving for Subang on the last day at Johor. Had lunch-dinner at On The Rock Stonegrill. That huge picture of the leng lui in the background is ‘Cyndi Honey’ – whoever she is – coming to Malaysia for concert. I took it cos … er.. wanted more pictures of cute girls on my blog. *dies*

Cooking the food! :D
