Completely Random Bits Of My Life

Hen’s Night November 29, 2009

“So, actually, what did your wife do during her hen’s night? I need some ideas cos I gotta plan some stuff for my sister’s hen night,” I mused over lunch with Raymond last week.

“What is a hen night?”

“Er… wtf. It’s like the last night to party on down while you’re still single. I mean, didn’t you have a stag night?”

“No…”

“But it’s tradition!!!”

“Tradition from what?”

“Er… hehehe..  Western tradition?”

After spending the last 32 hours with my sister and her friends, I really hope that hen nights catch on! I mean, nowadays most people my age have hen’s night anyway, but I hope that the culture & practice is more understood by Malaysians. It is really difficult to play those “Girls Night Out” type of tricks when people don’t get what is going on. They just stand by and assume that we are horribly cruel, weird or hamsap. :P Maybe because we shifted the party from around KL to go to Genting! I really have to thank my sister’s friends, most importantly ELand Voon for being so gung ho and organising most of it, cos I really don’t know where to start. Some more I’m the sister, and generally people would expect me to organise? But in the first place, I was worried that I won’t be welcome also because I thought it was something for my sister and her friends to do, and not me, cos erm… although me and my sister are close, we aren’t close like telling each other stuff about our boyfriends or ex-es. And you know la… there will be all kinds of secrets revealed during hen’s nights. :P I think I’m just typing this all over the place cos I don’t know how to explain myself properly… generally I felt awkward about going but I’m glad I did because everyone was so selamba about stuff and soooo sporting ESPECIALLY my sister (feel so proud of her) and we all had a lot of fun! I mean, we did and we hope my sister did lah! She looked like she was enjoying herself. :P

On Friday (public holiday), EL and Voon forced me outta bed at 9:30am to buy “preparations” at Carrefour. Omg. And I thought I could catch up on sleep during the long weekend. Since it was Carrefour, I wore tee and shorts. At the last minute, they went to Sunway Pyramid. T___T (EL did this again to me on Saturday. Told me to wear “beachwear” on the trip to Genting so that my sister will be confused and not know where we are headed to. When I came out in beach shorts and a tee, I saw her wearing 3/4 jeans and a halter neck top. T____T) I am seriously impressed with EL and Voon’s resourcefulness because I had no idea you could get stuff for Hen’s Night at Sunway Pyramid. They have a really really huge amount of weird ass stuff for sale. If you’re planning something for your best mate who is getting married soon and you are a savvy mate who doesn’t think it’s wise to overspend for a one-off event, Asian Avenue has a lot of affordable stuff to “decorate your friend like a Christmas tree”.

In the end, after buying a few stuff (headgear, stickers, eyemask, etc), we were missing a sash. EL said, “Aiyah, if only we had a sash. This Leech la, she can sew but she didn’t volunteer.” T____T

So I volunteered. Also because at the end of the shopping trip, really couldn’t find a sash (I think that’s TOO specific) and there wasn’t any cloth shop open. When I imagined my sis decked out in the accessories, really felt it was incomplete without the sash… so for the sake of costume completeness, I had to make one. Call it the costume-r in me coming out. Hehehe. Anyway, Voon was soooo sweet. I initially thought of buying the cloth myself after gym (driving over to Midvalley’s Kamdar), but as I was driving to gym, EL told me Voon already got the cloth and asked Voon to drop it off at my house.

Dead tired after 9:30am waking up + shopping + gym (Attack!) + more shopping (to get paper for sash + I had Parkson vouchers expiring on that day itself)  I slept a bit before starting the sash making. I only started making at about 10pm! It was tedious but not difficult la… cos I didn’t have a sewing machine, so it was hand-sewn and the sash is damn fucking long la. So I caught up on anime episodes (Bleach!) while sewing the thing sloooooooowly. And then slowly designing the wordings for the sash. Got a few ideas :

a. “Hen night” (at the back) “Looking for cock.”

b. “Little Miss Naughty” (at the back) “Spank me!”

c. “Good wife” (at the back) “Perfect fucker”

d. “Bride to be”

Okay, (d) is obviously the most sane one… the rest were suggested for the lulz factor. Besides, I think it’s tooooooo dodgy wearing any of the others, hahaha. And it would’ve been harder to put such a sash on my sister. In the end we decided to incorporate (d) and (b) together… “Spank me!” at the back in Impact font! Hahahhaa! Finally finished at 3:30am (I am slow, I admit it!) and had to pack stuff for the trip too.

I can’t post up pictures of the event here because it’s a private thing and “what happens in Genting stays in Genting”, but here are a few lovely pics. Basically, to get a gist of what’s going on :

a. first picked up LY at her condo where we decked her out in all the accessories we bought for her. She gamely wore it, and even wore it to Taj Curry House to have brunch, hahaha!

b. blindfolded her in EL’s car and told her that we are taking her to a secret location! The eyemask that Voon and I chose for her is sooooo salah. Looks damn f’ckin scary! :D :D :D And with my sister with headgear on + sash + scary eyemask, she scared a few people walking around the area lor! And she would creepily stick her head by the window and wave to passerbys (even though she can’t see anything). We said that LY made a lot of people’s day! :D

c. drove up to Genting, though because we were frequently lost, LY claimed she knew where we were going once someone mentioned “Karak Highway”. And I think I sealed the deal when I randomly read out a signboard saying “Go to school in Genting Highlands.” I am sorry…. T_____T wuwuwu.

d. arrived in Genting to chillax. LY’s get up attracted attention from the lobby all the way to the long walk to the elevators. Hahaha! And random people came up to ask what’s up. And someone noticed the sash and said, “Are you sure you really want me to spank you?” Hahaha! Chillaxed in the room, listened to music and touched up sash while just chatting. My ipod speakers are Win! :D (I also love how me and SS got similar music tastes… yay! I damn scared pple mock the stuff that I download!) EL and Voon told me to bring a pack of cards, so I brought the male nude playing cards that I said I found in my room during spring cleaning. That’s when I  found out that it originally belonged to my SISTER!!!! HAHAHAHA! YAY! I knew that I am innocent! :D Turns out CK bought it for my sister (at some Australian sexpo) and I think she and EL were disgusted by it so they ditched it in my room WTF?!

Anyway we browsed through the cards and laughed at the guys on it until I found Mr Orgasm Face / the Orgasm Guy / Mr Orgasmo. I thought he was damn funny, and EL said we should stick Mr Orgasmo on the sash as well, so we did. :3

We also made some pineapple malibu to get a good buzz going, hahaha. That and some weird Midori drink. And they tried green tea + Chivas. Actually, I am kinda sick of the taste of Chivas. Maybe I’ve outgrown it after my birthday party this year. Was shocked to hear that the rest of them don’t really like it either, so we barely touched it. And  we bought 2 bottle of Coke cos I thought it would be the most popular drink. ~~ Anyway, we mixed in pineapple juice + Sprite + a touch of Midori into the remainding Malibu, then wrapped the Malibu bottle in newspaper and to take with us to Genting. Omg, that was the dodgiest thing ever. Hahaha!

e. changed into pretty outfits and camwhored. =) Then drove up to Genting!

f. ate dinner, played Girls Night Out games which include ragging the bride-to-be. Ok, my sister definitely has a crazy streak in her. Damn sporting! For every “dare” that she completed, we made her take a swig from the newspaper-wrapped Malibu bottle and gave her a heart shape glitter sticker of achievement. Hahahaha! Funny!!

g. Went to casino for hen night luck, but erm… nothing much happened there.

h. Went back down for more drinking. Got out the Moet & turns out that champagne is not that yummy after all. :( They recommend me another brand to try next time … or maybe I’ll just stick to wine?

i. Played “Kings Cup” and sabotaged my sister to the max. And then we just shared secrets and stories and “interviewed” one another. :D

That’s basically it… for items (f) and (i), can’t elaborate further. :D But it was really great fun. Damn happy. Hope my sis is too. :)

Share / Guide Association of Malaysia’s Meeting @ Genting July 23, 2008

Just came back from Genting, was an alright conference I guess. The conference is held by the Share/Guide Association of Malaysia, and it’s a series of presentations to share / inform the participants of the association on emerging trends in IT which turned out to be mainly about unified communications and virtualization. -___- Which, not to say isn’t interesting, but really hasn’t much to do with my work. Haih, well I enjoyed the extra two days reprieve from the office, and we all did win tickets to watch a musical / magic show screening in Genting. Just that I wish that there was a forum / conference which gave as much emphasis on application support / development instead of purely system support. Maybe there ARE such exhibitions / conferences around in Malaysia, I just don’t get sent to them? -__-

Oh, and my colleague Cindy is super nice to talk to and travel with! I was afraid that we would not have much to talk about, so I brought a book along. :P I think know she super attracted the male species the past two days. However, she’s quite a n00b in not knowing how to not get saddled by sales people. Whenever she fills in her feedback or survey forms, she will just write in that the company is interested in whatever product, so OF COURSE they will start to give their sales pitch to her. The thing is, there was one company which was oh-so persistent that they trailed her from meeting room to meeting room (they had “breakout sessions” on different topics, held in different meeting rooms) and one sales rep after another kept coming up to her, zomg.

Did meet up with some nice people (networking… haha), although most of them are in systems support and I can’t really “share” or have them “guide” me. But yeah, there’s a lot of nice people in the industry… and yeah, I met a certain Ms Chin who can speak Japanese. :P Was wondering what to do that night, but the organizing committee practically gave 80% of us tickets to Dreamz (the aforementioned musical / magic show). The show was not too bad, the main attracting factor being that the ticket was free. :P Personally thought the acrobatics, music, singing and dancing was good, but the magic show (which is what the main hoo-hah is supposed to be about) was crap! Some of the magic tricks made me want to laugh out loud when we were supposed to be horrified / amazed. Oh, and then they have this white tiger and white lion on show as well… that was pretty cool. Except for the fact that the white lion looked DRUNK. Like seriously, the “magician” dude was having trouble making the lion even stand on all fours. It kept tipping over and rolling on its back. Freaking sad.

Well, that’s all for now, there’s nothing much to talk about the entire conference. I did appreciate the experience, and friends that I made. Cheers to you all.

My “delegate’s tag” for the past 2 days. “Transformation… safeguarding the future” is the theme for this year’s conference.

Colleague took a picture of me “enjoying” the exhibition booths. :P
I didn’t know whether she took the picture or not! Felt like an ass pretending to look around and ended up sneaking a look at whether she’s done or not. -___-

One of the booths on display… IBM is promoting Green Data Centers.

This is one of the “angels” hired by Datacraft to promote their booth. Cindy and I tried to take a picture with her inconspicuosly, but this guy totally caught us and insisted that he take the picture for us.

Cindy and I in the main hall.

Walking around Genting to find Pavilion.

Our humble dinner at Coffee Bean.

The poster promoting the show.

One thing I like about my colleague is that she packs light!! Usually I’m the lightest packer of all, but this time half my bag was filled with these!! Yeah, I didn’t want to stop my beauty regiment, not for one day, nuh-uh. Besides, cold weather is very drying for the skin!

Camwhoring in my bedroom (totally paid for by the association). Each delegate gets one room all to themselves.

The free stuff from the whole gig.

Buffet lines.

They fed us rather well, I guess. No dinner though, which is apparently why most of my colleagues didn’t want to go! Just because they’d have to pay for their own dinner!

Will continue normal travel entries later, need to sleep now! Will be meeting Ben up for sushi tomorrow, it’s been so long since I last went to Sugimoto! :]

It’s Awana Genting LAH! February 29, 2008

HAHAHA, wtf, Pauline just told me the placed we stayed in is Awana Genting and “Awana Kijal is in Terengganu”. The funny part is that I shared out my photos in the office as “Awana Kijal Resort” and then everyone else followed my naming convention. =D Why la you all follow in a fool’s footsteps? ;)

Got all the photos from Michael & Justin (only left out AhSiang’s one), so I can blog about the trip now. :)

On Saturday, I went for tennis & Body Combat at the gym, before moseying over to Pauline’s house. Was a bit doubtful about leaving my car at her place because I’ve gotten saman-ed before for parking in that area (I still don’t know why), but I reckoned that 1 saman more that I won’t be paying won’t make any difference. Watched Mind Your Language while Pauline packed all the food for the trip. Got a call from Justin saying that he would treat us all to some famous curry fish head restaurant in Wangsa Maju, so then we all hurried to get there. Hehehe.

Before we went to the restaurant, Justin insisted that we go into his house and meet his family (dunno why). His mom is sooooooo nice ok! She treated us all to red bean tong sui! We told her that Justin bullies us and is the noisiest creature in the IT Division. She was shocked and said that he is a shy boy who is extremely quiet… wtf. After that we told him that he is Malaysia’s best actor since he managed to fool his mom for 20+ years.

(Off topic : do you act really differently in front of your family and in front of your friends? I don’t think I do… I just act differently in front of people I don’t know, ie. strangers.)

Oh yeah, and I also got to meet AhSiang’s son Benjamin… omg he is soooooooooo cute!! And he only speaks in English, got accent some more, soooooooooooooo cute. *falling in love* At the “famous curry fish head restaurant” in Wangsa Maju:

WanAi & Justin at the shop…
WanAi got a new haircut today, thought it looked really cute! But she seemed rather shy about it, must be because of people like Justin who tease her about it! *anger*

Michael & Pauline.

Like father like son! I told AhSiang to bring Ben along for the trip to _______, and that I’m willing to carry him whenever he’s tired. OMG, willing free babysitter — that’s how cute Benjamin is! XD XD

All the food is courtesy of Justin WPK… thank you very much!
Just remembered — Ben is soooooo weird, he only eats rice with soya sauce!

Michael & AhSiang were the designated drivers. I slept all the way there again. Pauline took photos of me being very happy to have the backseat all to myself:

Yalah, we brought extra pillows because we were afraid that 6 of us bunking into a room for 4 people would result in pillow shortage.

Arrived at Genting, checked IN and checked OUT the room. While the rest of us were busy bringing down our luggage and all the food items, Justin (who had just 1 light backpack) ran all the way to the room and claimed that he would hold the door open for us wtf. In the end the door didn’t even NEED to be held open, so guess what he did while we were being pack mules? He dumped his backpack on the nicest bed in the room, rolled around on it and declared that that was definitely where he would be sleeping for the night. Damn biadap one this guy!!!

The room was sooooooooooooo nice though, check it out! I think it’s better for a family with young children to stay in this room coz they have a very romantic jacuzzi which none of us used because the bathroom windows were a bit “wayang kulit” if anyone used the jacuzzi. No thanks, I don’t want my colleagues to see even my bathing-in-jacuzzi-shadow! @_@ *prude*

Photobucket
The really nice & spacious living room.
There’s a hugeeeee mirror on the wall. Great for the narcissists in us.

Photobucket
The bed-with-a-view that we were all fighting over. Can see that Just has dumped his bag on one side, and the rest of us girls dumped our junk on the other. Spoil picture only.

Fighting over who gets the bed.

Justin followed me all around cos “whatever you take a picture of, I wanna take one too”. Super kiasu or whut!!

After we had settled down, some of us watched TV, and some of us played mahjong! Mahjong is the best!! Thanks to Pauline and WanAi, I learned how to play “sam ka” (3 players) mahjong. I’m used to the slower-paced 4 player one, but “sam ka” is so much fun dei! Most of the fun was gone when we had Justin playing because this guy is sooooooooooo fcuking slow. I really lost my temper at him a few times because he is sooooooo slow and sooooooooo tak malu about EVERYTHING. There was one point where he was reaching for the tiles from the wrong side, so I kept telling him, “Wrong place!” but at the same time he was shouting “Zi Mo!!!!!!!” and then we both ended up screaming “Wrong Place!” “Zi Mo!!” “WRONG PLACE!!!!” “ZI MOOOO!!!” Do you know how long it took WanAi and Pauline to shut us up!

Photobucket
Using my tripod, with Just’s camera. He didn’t bother to move the armchair away!! -___-
Which is a pity cos I look better in the photos from his camera!
L-R (somewhat): AhSiang, Michael, myself, Pauline, WanAi and Justin.

Photobucket
“Sei Ka” (Four player) mahjong… sienzzz.

Photobucket
No wonder he’s playing so slowly… he’s holding one muruku in each hand!

Photobucket
The number of “fei” (jokers) that I hope to get… muwahahha… (yalah, I look damn lian la wtf)

The cable / wire for the steamboat + barbeque contraption that AhSiang brought couldn’t be found, so we all had to cook the steamboat stuff batch by batch on the stove. Hahaha, so it wasn’t really a steamboat per se, but it was still yummy and fun. Nobody got stomachaches from eating the steamboat that night, so it’s all good.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Some of the “raw” materials.

Photobucket
No cable, cannot be used!

Photobucket
“Kau kau chan, mo bong chan” (playing around, not helping at all)… heh heh. Main chefs of the day were Pauline, WanAi and AhSiang. =p Yeah, check out the number of mineral bottles we brought along. DAMN HOT IN GENTING OK.. I finished 1.5 litres between travelling up and during mahjong…!

Photobucket
“Kau kau chan” part 2! :D Encouraged by Justin la.

Fried marinated chicken slices.

Sample of steamboat, improvised version!

More mahjong throughout the night, random snatches of Kungfu Hustle on some Genting Highlands channel, looking at what the guys were doing on Pauline’s laptop… er… can you guess? :P

Photobucket

Photobucket
Trying to get photographic evidence of what they were up to… to no avail. :(

Had a peaceful night’s sleep until Justin woke us up in the morning to play mahjong wtf. Too damn sleepy to layan him, so I pretended to keep on sleeping. Pauline and WanAi damn hardworking and semangat, woke up to cook breakfast some more. We had a self-made Western-style breakfast. =D And then mahjong. -____- Here are some pictures from around the resort, courtesy of an itchy-butt Justin (he went out to walk cos we banned him from playing mahjong):

Quite beautiful, eh? Kinda regret that I didn’t follow him to explore the surroundings!

Photobucket
What us girls were doing when Justin was gone… =p *paiseh*paiseh*

We played mahjong until it was way after our check-out time, memang addicted to it! Didn’t win much, if at all.. maybe about RM1 at the most? BTW, it’s DAMN irritating to play mahjong with a n00b who only wins because he is somehow lucky enough to keep getting all the “flowers”, and thus being able to game quickly with a crap formation… sigh!!!

Photobucket
This is a result of setting a 2 second timer instead of a 10 second one! Was testing to see how the group picture could be framed.

Photobucket
Saying goodbye!

Ate a giant cookie on the way back to KL (courtesy of Pauline)… and then ate some more at:
-> a “famous” pan meen store in Wangsa Maju (near the KTM station)
-> famous porridge store in PJ State (??)
-> Canadian lobster (stir-fried with cheese sauce), also at PJ State.

The girls with the same surnames — WanAi, Pauline and Leechie~

Actually, got quite depressed towards the end of the night. As usual, with colleagues what else is there to talk about but work, and I can tell you that there’s sooooo much things to get emotional over at work. Sigh.. nobody will understand. If you complain, people will say, “Complain so much for what? Just leave if you’re not happy!” People keep saying that like it’s the fcuking easiest thing on earth, y’know? Like if you’re not happy with the way the government runs things, then leave? If you not happy with your marriage, then divorce? If you’re not happy with your family, disown them? Is walking away always the easiest and best solution?

Have to wake up early tomorrow to settle all my $hit before going to Langkawi. Haven’t even packed, but I’m not worried. Heck, it’s just 3 days right, gonna be a beach bum. A very drunk one.

Up, Up and Away February 25, 2008

Spent the entire weekend with my colleagues! As if we don’t see each other at work enough. =p Ah Siang had a free room in Awana Kijal Resort in Genting, so we upped and packed our bags and had a steamboat there. Ya I know, seems like a lot of trouble to go through to have steamboat up there, but we had loads of fun, so it’s all worth it. Big mwahs to Pauline for preparing the food (I like steamboat la, pretty please have one at your house? I’ll do allll the washing up!) and Michael & Ah Siang for driving us around. I slept like a pig throughout the journey, snored some more, tak malu betul.

Don’t know why I’m so sleepy… could be partly due to waking up for a 7am tennis lesson last Saturday. Still working on forehand & footwork. Sigh, discovered that I am not a “tensai” (genius) because I was struggling with the footwork. However, I persevered and continued practicing the footwork when I was at the gym (!!!). The instructor must be wondering what choreo I was practicing by myself, heh heh. Note to self : if the back leg moves first, the set-up can be completed faster. BACK LEG FIRST! I still like tennis a whole lot, no worries about quitting early.

Some pictures from the trip — I brought my tripod along, and despite Justin’s snub, it was very useful!

Photobucket
In the living room of our pad.. damn nice room! See how biadap that Justin is, shoving his foot into my face wtf.
Back row : Ah Siang, Pauline, WanAi.
Front row : Michael, Leech, Justin de Pig.

Photobucket
During the steamboat dinner that night (WanAi was talking on the phone, so she’s not in the picture).
L-R : Pauline, AhSiang, myself, Michael and Justin. HAHA.. damn fake.

Also, happy belated birthday to my sister, LY…
Photobucket
Er.. yalah, chocolate banana from Secret Recipe again! I tried to get something else, but there was no time and despite booking in advance, the store said I could only choose from like 6 different cakes!
Then damn stupid, I actually left my credit card with Secret Recipe and went shopping because Albert called me an I got distracted. HAHAHA! Luckily the store assistant was honest and gave the card back to me when I came back xx minutes later. :( :( :(
Photobucket
My dad and my sister. OMG, look at how ‘semangat’ my dad is when he’s singing ‘Happy Birthday’. :P

Will blog more later — really sleepy now. Have to attend company’s Annual General Meeting (again), and then I’ll be going to Langkawi on Thursday. If you happen to be at Shangri-La hotel on Tuesday, drop by and say hi, heh heh heh.
