myPhone! April 11, 2012

Okie, time for a break from all my awesome holiday photos… to tell you that I bought a new phone!! After using my previous one for more than 5 years, it was starting to break down on me. The navigation button fell off, and stupid Nokia said I had to replace the entire keypad for a few hundred. No thanks. The port to charge also fcuked up, and again – need few hundred to replace. No thank you, again. Phone started randomly shutting itself down whenever it liked. Behave, why don’t you? And in case you’re wondering how I charged my phone, I charged the battery directly. Whenever I took out the phone battery to charge, I would put my SIM card into my dad’s backup phone. Yes, my DAD’S backup phone.

I think I whined a lot about my phone on my blog before, just doing a recap before continuing, haha.

Anyway, the MAIN reason why I took so long to get another phone is simply because I DON’T KNOW what to get. There are so many choices for smart phones nowadays. All I know is that I did not want another Nokia because I am so sorely disappointed in my last one. In the end, the strange, strange thing that “encouraged” me to change my phone is … my boss. I think he has shares in Apple or something. Everytime he saw me using my old + crappy phone, he would say, “Hey, just get an iPhone la!” He made it his mantra for a few days, and then I really did go and buy the iPhone! iPhone 4S to be precise. :P

You can slide in a 20sen coin and can prop your phone up. But that’s not why I bought this casing. I bought it because it is “spongebob yellow” and was the only phone casing I liked in the Mont Kiara mall, where I bought my phone.

Before buying it, Tron also did encourage me to get a new phone, but he is not as consistent as my boss. He used to be a BIG supporter of the Blackberry, but now he starts to complain a whole lot about it. Hehe. Then he liked the Samsung Galaxy S2, but after a while said it was no biggie. I think he’s interested in the Galaxy Note now, lol. So he was confusing me, who was already a confused soul. So instead of being confused and buying the “wrong” phone, I just continued suffering with my previous phone.

OH — another reason it took me so long to make a decision : I am not the gadget loving type. If I buy a phone, I know I will be using it for a longgggg time. I didn’t want another phone that I would hate after a year or so. :\ I suppose another reason would be that I’m just stingy about gadgets in general, and was hoping I would just win a damn phone so that the decision on what model to use would be made for me. :P Unfortunately, no luck there … YET. ;P Anyway, I have been chalking up a lot of huge expenses recently, so it was kinda like a, “Meh.. what’s another few thousand”. O_O”

I’m still exploring the apps, so if you’ve got any cool apps that I *must* download, please do tell me! Currently I’ve downloaded mostly camwhoring apps (hehe) and games. My favorite game at the moment is Bejewelled. And according to the app, when I had the phone for merely 4 days, I had already chalked up 8 hours of game time. O_O” Yes, that is how bad my addiction to the game is! I have other serious apps that Tron passed to me (he uses the iPad). Mostly stuff like things to read PDF files, lol. Yes, my boyfriend is a very serious guy. But I’m more into using this phone for fun times, so please recommend games to me! =D And yes, if you see me Tweeting more often than usual, this would be the reason! :) And I Twitpic more often too! :P

Oh, and I’m really loving the camera! Yes, one of things I loved about my old phone that other phones did not have was the front-facing camera. The iPhone 4S has a front camera, so I feel like there’s some continuity there, hahaha. But my old phone’s normal camera is pretty slow and I don’t think the Carl Zeiss lens is that special. I rarely took photos with the back camera for my old phone because it is sooooooooo slow that it’s not really “whipping out my camera and casually snapping something” anymore. But with my iPhone 4s, I have become so snap happy. :D

Ok, so it’s pretty much a bimbo phone for me, and I’m proud of that! I never claimed to be a gadget geek, so when I’m able to do small things like take photos, install apps, use wi-fi, etc, I’m really happy. Cos I didn’t have that with my old phone! :) In fact, I feel less inclined to switch on my laptop cos I can already do what I need to do on my phone.

If you’re wondering how Siri is for me — Siri reminds me why all my Australian / American vendors don’t seem to understand me. *sad sob* Actually, I’m changing, I speak really slow when talking to my vendors so they don’t think that I’m rapping / speaking chinese wtf. The first time I asked Siri to call my boyfriend, he said, “Sorry, cannot find Show LX Shoe”. LOL! So you can try and guess what is my boyfriend’s real name. When I dictated an SMS to Siri, he came up with some gibberish! Other things that Siri doesn’t understand : He thinks my “Change” is either “Cheesy” or “J”. “Cancel” is “Kennesaw” and “Review” is “Reviewal”. Whaddaheck! Am I really pronouncing so many extra syllables?!?!

Oh God, I just had a most irritating conversation with Siri:

“Send a message to Andrew”

“I don’t know who Angel is”

“Andrew.”

“I don’t know who Angel is. To whom should I send this message to?”

“Mommy” (decided to change contact since apparently I pronounce “Andrew” like “Angel”)

“I don’t know who Angel’s mother is. I don’t know who your mother is. In fact I don’t know who you are.”

WTF, why so rude! Anyway, just abruptly ending this entry with all the photos from my iPhone so far! :X

First photo taken ever on my iPhone… at the Apple store! That seems apt. :) By the way, my colleague told me that at some places, even the 4S is out of stock, but though I did not have to line up to get my iPhone in the Mont Kiara branch, I have a few bones to pick with the Maxis store there. Firstly, kept telling me the 32GB white casing is in stock, but when time to pass me the phone, it is suddenly NOT in stock. Told me to wait 30 minutes while he gets the phone from another branch (when I insisted I wanted the white one), but ended up waiting one hour. Then my credit card couldn’t go through, so I had to pay in cash!!

Random at work the next day, where I discover that a fully charged iPhone cannot even last til 6pm for me.

Muwahahha.. all the cute cam apps have been installed at this point! :P

Taken by my loving boyfriend, who was so into my phone when I first got it! He helped me with all the security settings! :)

My oh-so-adorable nephew! :) We love him and he loves us! :P

Present that Tron gave to me… for my phone! But nothing to dangle it from, so I use it for my pedestal key instead.

Arr… more camwhoring. On Sunday, had usher duty, where we always have to wear a white top and black skirt / pants and black sensible shoes. For me, it means that if I go anywhere else after church, people might mistake me for a sales assistant.

Random giant bed bug.

Yes, you always have a way of brightening up my day.. iPhone… :P

Just taken today! Went to 1U with my man.

Here we are at O’Briens, which was super understaffed today. They made us wait 30 minutes for two freaking sandwiches and 2 cups of terrible coffee and tea. They forgot our order la! I should have gotten the hint when the chinese uncle before us was ranting on why his order was late. What really got my goat is how they NEVER apologised for their mistake and we didn’t even screw them upside-down for their mistake, in fact didn’t scold at all! We just asked where is our food!! But another Malay group that actually arrived later than us AND got their food earlier than us, I heard the cashier say sorry to THEM. Wtf, I don’t want to pull out the race card, but it is really racist lor. I ban from visiting O’Briens already, seriously. Damn disappointed, starting the day on a bad note.

And you think the sandwich in O’Brien damn hard to make? Look at this la, there’s no veggies or anything also. Sheesh! And the group after us (that was apologised to) ordered the triple decker and all the other more complicated sandwiches lor. FTS seriously!

Ok, guess where we went to watch “Wrath of the Titans”? Storyline is nothing to shout about, but I like the action I suppose. The last good movie I watched recently was Battle Royale, which is something I may or may not rant about in the future.

Tron said some aunty was tsk-tsk-ing at us when we took this photo… lol. What’s wrong with camwhoring wor.

I Sing Hosanna August 18, 2011

Finally have time to post on my blog! Well, actually I *don’t* have time, so I’m sacrificing a bit of sleep to post this up. Which is a really bad idea because I’ve been pretty sleep deprived the past few days. Firstly, work at UVW Bank is picking up, so it’s getting quite exciting. At the same time, they also signed me up for some programming training session which goes on for TWO weeks, from 4-8pm. YES! 2 hours after working hours! But it’s a blessing to be able to be trained, right? So have to really pay attention. The bad part is that, it started this Monday, and on Tuesday, I could only stay til 6pm because I was rushing off for Ps Joseph Prince (from New Creation Church, Singapore) who was having a special 2 day sermon (not consecutively, lol. Though I’m sure he could go for 48 hrs straight!) at my church. :) At least for the 1st day, I wanted to sit in the main hall… :P

I arrived at the church by 6:30pm, and got really good parking — by the road side. Was recognised as an intecessor so I could sit in the main hall reserved seats, but this is thanks to Tron. :) Tron so happy that he was getting this privilege that when he went into the lift, he was laughing so much that he forgot to press the level he wanted to go to. So we all just stood around in the lift, literally going nowhere. -___- Hehehehe…

Anyway, gosh, the sermons were so powerful, so impactful, so anointed… I knew it was going to be awesome ever since I read Ps Joseph’s “100 Days of Favor” book. To be honest, there were times when I read the book and I realise that I just had the wrong perception of Christ all along. For those people who felt tired or frustrated in their walk, maybe you should come to my church and get the grace message… the worship team from NCC are also super inspiring and moving. Most of the songs that they sing are original compositions (both music and lyrics). Amazing! Truly a blessed church who also blesses others with their presence. Not being corny here, really motivated and touched by the message from NCC. When I go to Singapore (over a weekend), I must attend service there!

Ps Joseph’s talk went on til about 11:30pm… FYI, worship & praise is almost an hour long as well. I got home at 12:15am as there was traffic jam and police road blocks that night. Got home and attempted to do the exercise we were assigned for the programming training we were going through. I felt so lost, so aside from notes, had to use a lot of Mr Google, and was only 50% completed when my eyes just couldn’t stay open anymore and I fell asleep with the PC on.

On the 17th, it’s a public holiday in Selangor, but I just found out that my company, though located in PJ — follows the KL holiday calendar. This was actually something I just found out last week, lol. I was about to assume that it follows Selangor public holidays and not show up at work. In the end, as I told my friend, “I have to take leave for what is rightfully mine”. Hehehe. Cos in the morning, there was a leadership sermon in the church. At this point, I think my colleagues think that I’m a super holy person, since I would take so much leave to go to church. In fact, I am someone who needs a lot of help, HENCE, I need to go to church more. :P If someone is so holy (or perceives himself so), then why would you need to call on God to help you?

ANYWAY. I had to wake up at 8am to go for this leadership sermon… which lasted til 1:30pm. The message on leadership and how to be good leaders and roles in the church was interesting, practical instructions on how life is in church. But I was really ‘fishing’ already as I was soooo tired and I didn’t get any caffein boost. I feel damn bad because this leadership message is so important but my eyeballs kept rolling under my eyelids. If anyone saw, hope I am forgiven. :)  By the time I finished and went home, it was 2pm. Struggled to finish the exercise, at the same time clearing my office inbox. Hahaha. Finally done by 3:20pm.. had to bathe and rush off to the office. Did not even STUDY for the exam we were having that evening!

First thing I did when I reached the office? DRINK TWO CUPS OF COFFEE! From 4pm-7pm, we had our exams on the past 2 days tutorial (for me – 1.5 days). Hallelujah, even though most of us struggled with the questions, it was later revealed that a bulk of our marks came from doing the exercise. So since I managed to complete the exercise, it was A-OK. All passed. Lol! Halfway through the tutorial, it started raining cats & dogs. I was silently praying that when class ended, the rain would stop too as I didn’t fancy searching for parking in the rain. FYI, the 1st day with Ps Joseph Prince, there were so many people that the main hall, and all other halls in the church (called the overflow rooms) were PACKED. I don’t know how much that is… but definitely in the hundreds range. Probably 500-1000? Is that too excessive a guess? So you can imagine how PACKED the area was…

Class ended at 7:45pm, so I rushed to get to church after that. Hallelujah, really the rain had stopped, and the huge puddles on the highway indicated just how heavy it was. I didn’t get a good parking space, but I got a decent one which was very far away from the church, but at least it was guaranteed that it won’t be prone to getting hit by cars (very safe area). While walking halfway to church, the church van picked us up, so it wasn’t like I had to sweat all the way there. I met this gal who asked me what’s happening at the church that there’s so many people. I said, “Aren’t you coming for the Ps Joseph Prince event as well?” and she said that she was actually going for the church classes, and had no idea. Wow, I think she’s amazing. Cos if I was going to class and there was such packed parking, I would have gone home. Instead, she seemed so determined to go for classes, hahaha. Well, I hope she enjoyed the sermon tonight and was greatly blessed by the message. She is meant to come for the message… hehehe. :)

Anyway, tonight was also a lot of fun, a lot of enlightenment. FYI, the two sermons were both different, though some jokes were repeated. No harm, the pastor tells it so wonderfully that everyone laughs again. =)

Well, I went on and on about PS Joseph Prince and how I’m so sleepy… but in fact I started this blog post to talk about how we celebrated Tron’s birthday. Lol. I’ll post that up tomorrow… hopefully I won’t be too sleepy. :O *yawn*

Final Farewell July 12, 2011

Picture heavy post… my very very very last day in XYZ Bank… (not like you can’t tell what bank it is from the pictures).

One of my favorite-st users everrrrrr… none other than Mr Soo from Treasury Control Processing. Any project done with him will be a joy because he knows what he wants and he can even give suggestions how to do it! Also, he’s very funny and nice and understanding user. The best. :) I was lucky that he came over to Bangi the day before I left, so I could get a picture with him. And remind him how many meals he owes me already by now. :) Never claimed once also. Fun fact : his brother was our national badminton player once upon a time. He played doubles. Should be easy for you to guess…

Mangosteens on my desk in the morning. How often does your boss put fresh fruits on YOUR table. Sigh…

Raymond said that my new make-up so glamourous. Well… I knew I would be taking lots of photos for the day mar…

I blogged about my make-up FOTD at my beauty blog.

Breakfast in the morning… this is kinda the cleanest my desk has ever been… but it’s gonna get even more sparse…

Last time imma work in these cubes…

Last time Imma work with these two… the last seven years were a blast, right? We’ve been through so much together. AS400 Cobol, Java, JSP, Visual Basic…

One last box to cart home. And that strange thing at the bottom is actually an ant trap that I generously donated to my office. The pest control really sucks!

First person I took photo with was Lim because he was working half day that day…

Photo with the calendar from year 2004… the first calendar I ever got from XYZ Bank! This is like, ancient history for me. :P

Last time Imma look at this monitor with all the funky stickers. Not like I can personalise my current laptop in the same manner.

My pedestal has never been cleaner…

Mr Ho.. who likes to tell Raymond that he’s very lucky that he (Raymond) gets to go out for lunch with a “leng lui” everyday (ah-hem, that’s me…)

Me with Barbara and R, two UAT testers who we frequently worked with. They came over to pass me a farewell present.

This whole team came downstairs to have a “tea date” with me… so touched. It’s Jonathan, Mandy, AiChee, Daniel & Sunny. So sad… where to get colleagues like this… :)

This was what they bought for the “tea date” — two boxes of J Co Donuts!

Pauline and I. Am so happy for her that she is now a manager… :) Where’s my lunch treat?

Hema and myself… once upon a time she sat next to me…

Justin and I… dunno why he is so nice to me.. I only helped him out occasionally in JSP and Java stuff… and usually only cos Sifoo Wong asked me to cos I think Justin scared to ask me. Hahaha! Anyway, a really smart guy… and I’m glad that our offshore project is safe in his hands..

MY boss and I. I won’t lie… I teared up when I saw this picture… because all the memories came flooding back. All I can say is… I wish I was a better employee at times.

Me and the young men of the team (minus Lim who is married, therefore an old man) – William, NSL And Putera.

Me and Mr NXY… the AS400 expert.. :)

Me and Umma…didn’t get to work with her much … no opportunity as she came in after Hema (when I was still doing AS400 Cobol occasionally).. and she wasn’t on the offshore project, so I didn’t need to teach her like Justin.

Wong and I… this coffee maker is a bane in Wong’s existence… cos I took it to work and left it there… for 3 years!! Hahahahha!!

Me and Raymond…. best work buddy…

CJ and myself… CJ is in charge of the server side stuff.. so I frequently have to torture him… but he likes it… hahahha.

I’ll miss the “Who’s on leave?” board… :P

I’ll miss my tag…

Crying while eating the carrot cake that Barbara and R bought for me… overwhelmed.
