Completely Random Bits Of My Life

Happy Days May 15, 2012

Home-cooked food for a difference. Have not been cooking for a while, but I’m looking to experiment more in the future! I’ve even downloaded a lot of recipe apps onto my phone. :)

Okay, so we cheated on the mango peppercorn herrings… next time there won’t be any cheating. ;) By the way, the herrings were the best part of the meal. -_____-”

Tron took me to this lovely little restaurant near my workplace. It’s super quaint, serves really good tea and the staff are nice and attentive. The food is good but not great, but makes up for it for it’s affordability and the portions. Feel like going back there again just for tea and cakes. :) The person who introduced this place to Tron? Our pastor! It’s called The Teapot Cafe, look it up. :P

My sister invited us out for dinner at Manhattan Fish Market… but my brother wound up paying! Heehee! We ordered a set meal, but there was way too much food. About 4 different rice sets and there were side dishes of salads and soups as well! I always worry that there’s not enough food to go around when we are ordering, and this tends to cause us to have too much in the end. I need to start “thinking like a slim person”. :(

MORE pictures of darling baby Ben! :)

MORE food pictures of all the nice places that Tron took me to. This one was at a restaurant in 1U – forgot the name, but Tron thought they had his fave pork mayo donburi there. Sadly for him, the quality had dropped. I enjoyed my sashimi + tempura set though! ;)

And this is when we ate at Sugimoto. Still one of my most fave Japanese restaurant around. :) )

This is the Thai place we ate at in 3 Two Square, Jaya One. Not really good, I still prefer Erawan. The Thai ice tea doesn’t even taste like the tea I drink when I’m actually in Thailand and it has wayyyyyyy too much coloring! :X

Cute souvenirs from Fuzzy…

… and my birthday present from Kim. It was so timely, I was just about to buy myself a clutch from Tangs.

Pictures from the Haikara outing with Sookie, Ching and his girlfriend. :) Haikara is really near my house, but I’ve never been there before. Interested to go there again to try their coffee and this GIANT STUFFED SQUID set that looks awesome! I wanted to try it so badly when I was there with them but I chickened out because it’s stuffed with rice and I was going on a no carb thing at that moment. Ah, me and my 1-week fad diets… now I regret not having desserts with them either. IT WAS SO HARD TO RESIST… but looking at all these pretty pictures fill me with regret!

Lastly, something sweet to end this entry — kiwi jelly cake at our church cafe. :)

I just noticed that Tron has the same shirt in all the pictures with him in it! Obviously his wardrobe is not as extensive as mine…

Gals Day Out April 18, 2012

Lots of pictures to post from meet-ups many, many, many weeks ago. Would you believe me if I said I have stuff to do every weekend? I’m seriously busy every weekend – sure have chores to do or people to meet up with. If you told secondary school Leech that it would be this way, she wouldn’t believe ya. Weekends are for more gymming and snuggling in bed with a good book! I used to be able to read a few books a month, but it’s already April and I think I only read 2-3 books. :\ Plus, last time I used to be the one buying all the books in my house, but now it’s *jeng jeng jeng* my brother! I cannot believe that he actually reads wtf. :P The problem with reading books that my brother buys are that he only buys cheap books. Like stuff from the bargain bin – so you’re definitely not reading any award winners. Still, it’s something to flip thru when you’re on the porcelain throne I guess. :P

I’ll blog about the books that I read in another entry, because it’s seriously wtf + lol. Meanwhile, pics of meet-ups with my gal pals from earlier this month! (Or was it late last month? Gee, how time flies.)

Went to SUGIMOTO with Dull, Fuzz and Pauline recently. I know, such a random mix of gals right? The similarity? All my good friends who are dependable + I can work with. Hahahaha.

Had this roll to start, but I forgot the name!

Another roll to share! Spider roll.

Dull and Fuzz… (Dull was not happy that I brought my camera)

Sweet Pauline.

Fuzz’s unagi (eel) set

Pauline’s sashimi set… it came with a set of udon as well. I know, Sugimoto portions are ridiculously filling!

My tempura set, full of lovely fried seafood… damn damn good….

Dull took some chicken rice bowl set… I feel bad cos she doesn’t really like Japanese food as much as the rest of us!

Tucking in

Awww, Dull looks so fab here!

Pauline and I. :)

Pauline and I back in 1950s

Another great photo of Fuzz and Dull

After that, we went to Kamdar to pick out some cloth… don’t mind us. We are just checking out color combinations, haha.

Fuzz has a very critical eye. Same for Dull! They can see shades that I cannot differentiate

I was wondering why Kamdar also sells weapons (spears), and Dull said it’s OBVIOUSLY curtain rods. Wtf, do you think it’s “OBVIOUSLY” curtain rods? I think not!

Met up with Kim for our annual gift exchange… just that we are so late this year that her birthday is in about 5 months time, lol. Well, she has been busy and it’s quite exciting to hear her talk about going for dance classes and “social dancing”. I didn’t even know there’s such a social dancing scene in KL. The only dancing scene I know of is feng tau like on ecstacy in clubs. Anyway, we went to Papa Johns because Tron gave me all his BCARD vouchers that he got from Chatime. Among the stack of vouchers said to be worth RM1.3k is countless Papa Johns vouchers. -__-” In the end, the waitress also keyed in the coupon wrongly and we got a better deal – buy 1 free 1 instead of a 2 pizzas for RM40 or whatever.

It was fun meeting up! We talked and talked until Pyramid closed down and we had to leave Papa Johns through the backdoor, hahahaa.

The “must have” cheese sticks with tomato sauce & butter garlic sauce. It’s not really a must have, but the butter garlic sauce is damn evil sinful delicious sinful crap!! It’s like oil! But oil that you want to drink, hahha.

The Mexican pizza, which is rather spicy. The jalapenos will have your mouth on fire. Quite deceptive since the pizza looks so mild.

The Papa John’s must have.. forgot the name. :P

And this is Kim! Ching, can match your friend with her ah, hahah… *wink wink nudge nudge*

Two of us.. forgive my tired look, I really am tired from work (nearly 3 weeks no time to go gym) and I felt myself ballooning up + losing my hair. I need a new look! Anyway, Kim looks nice here… maybe I should take up this social dancing thing too.. :P

Great Weekend!! November 24, 2011

A little bit late to post about my last awesome weekend (especially since I’m headed to another weekend which promises to be very eventful), but I’ve been pretty busy. I’ve also been suffering from neckaches that actually make me feel like I want to puke / pass out. I randomly threw a day of leave yesterday, and I thought I could get a lot of junk done, but I wound up seeing the doctor and resting my neck. You want to know what’s amazing though? When I gym, it’s like the pain just goes away. But if I’m seated quietly for long periods of time, then it really starts to ache. This especially so when doing work.

So I guess you can make a very intelligent summary that it’s due to my bad posture when sitting down. But I’m just wondering, “Why now?” I’ve been like this for agesssss. Anyway, my colleagues are so nice & concerned… cos I said the laptop positioning is not so good for me, they loaned me an LCD screen instead! Lol! But now my cubicle is so full of hardware.

Last Saturday, Tron took me to “the best yong tao foo” in Selangor! Hahaha. I really have NO idea how to get there, just that you should use the AKLEH. Actually, we had yong tao foo the night before as well, and he said it was crap. Was not too keen to eat it again the next day, but after 90 minutes of driving around KL (Yes! 90!!), I was so hungry when we arrived! Thankfully the food comes quickly, and straight outta the wok! It’s super fresh, and super delicious. You can taste the freshness ok! It really made the yong tao foo we had the night before some old stale leftovers! And it’s affordable too. All together, Tron & I ate 30 pieces, and the bill + drinks is RM30! Ok, if you’re my mom you’ll say it’s expensive cos she still harks back to the “good old days” where yong tao foo is 20sen per piece.

Dulu, dulu, dulu polis pun pakai seluar pendek lah! Lol!!

Ampang Yong Tao Foo – since 1976!

Happy me!

Freshly fried wantans and other yummy stuff – straight from the wok!

I just love the lady’s fingers and the bouncy fresh fishball and the tofu… and the chilli!! Everything is awesome! And the chilli sauce and sweet sauce to go with it?? Simply amazing!

Teman-ed Tron to KLCC, and went to Maxis center. He was in a camwhorey mood!

Haha!

In case you do not know what yong tao foo is, Tron’s explanation is – “The Chinese person’s sushi”. LOL!

That night, I went for my ex-colleague’s Sunny & Siu Chui’s house party. They labelled it as an “adult party”, but it was very very very “for general viewing” at the end. :P There was lots of pizza, mixers, chicken, and was great to catch up with my colleagues!! After that, they made us split into two groups to play some games on their Kinect. It was sooooooo coooooooolios! I want one nowwwww! I really think you can lose a lot of weight playing the games! First, we were divided into “red” and “black” team, and we had to play some sports games. This was very fun, but obviously the Kinect experts were all in the red team, so black team trailed super far behind. :( Obviously, I’m in black team. I don’t know if you’ll be able to view the videos Sunny posted up, but here’s the links :

Andric does the long jump, dubbed “lansi”
Mr See’s javelin throw with real javelin.
KL & See’s “Like a G6″.. the disgusting laughter at the background is moi!

Ok, don’t know if you all can view or not, not sure if it’s public or friends only! Hahahha. Anyway, we were trailing so bad that we decided to play the dance challenge to catch up, cos the black team got more girls. You know, guys can be so “wooden”. But not KL lor! Not only does he shake everything, he got this super fatt hao face when he’s dancing. Hahahha! Made us all laugh like crazy! =D Anyway, the dance game is called “Dance Challenge 2″ or something like that. I took some photos of them dancing, but they are all moving so fast, and a “you just had to be there” thing to really laugh your lungs out. I laughed so much, my stomach ached!! Couldn’t even dance properly after that!

Sober, cos around me they be acting like they drunkkkkk (but in this case, the rest of us were sober and these two dancing like drunks!)

Jumping all around some more!! We made them play at DIFFICULT level. Hahaa everyone else played easy or medium only. :P

This is the game! I love how they talk trash to each other at the start of the game! “Hey, haven’t you heard? You already lost! Look, I’ll prove it to you!” WTF. “I’m the ace, and she’s the queen, and you’s about to get flushed.” HAHAHAHAHA.

Lol @ Raymond! So enthusiastic even though got a fractured foot!

I don’t even know what Siu Chui & See are doing!

Oh, and we played the Raving Rabid Rabbits game… very creative la!

See how active this Binz & Siu Chui is!?!

Sigh… so much fun! :D

Publika … & Other Random Weekend Updates November 9, 2011

Last week of October’s weekend updates. Sorry for not being more interesting here, peeps! I have a lot of ideas for blog rants and such, but they require too much of my time. Which is currently occupied with other things such as Life and Work. I know, there’s an insane amount of food pics here, and Ben says it gets a bit boring. Why do I even post it up, he asks. “Er… so other people get jealous.”

Ben : “Why the f*_K will they get jealous about?”

Me : “Er… like all that food being in my belleh… Mmm.. yeah, my belly and not their belly!”

Hmm… actually, I think it’s because it’s the prettiest things in my camera, hahaha. I’m really looking forward to the work week, having been given a shot of ENERGY from the long weekend and another shot of INSPIRATION from my care group leader. Guess what? We were sharing about personal weaknesses that we might have, and I said I have a fear of speaking in crowds. As I’m worried about the way that I sound, grammar, etc. Personally, I think it’s because of my own bitchy attitude. I am inwardly laughing at people who make grammatical mistakes. And you know what they say about this “perfectionist” attitude right? You wind up being so freaking insecure about yourself. It’s an ongoing battle, and believe me, I’ve made way more headway in recent times than before.

I think I’ve mentioned something similar before last time. Like, loving to point out other’s physical flaws, which made me extra hard on myself to lose weight and gym like a nutter. After doing training, I realise how much more of a joy it is to motivate others to lose weight, help them to achieve their goal and cheer them on instead. *suddenly so holy lol*

Ok, maybe you just think I”m bullshitting you, so I’ll just head on to the weekend updates instead :

Publika
Finally went to Publika in Mont Kiara… and it was really random! Tron had something to do there, and we happened to drive past Publika. I’m like katak di bawah tempurung – hadn’t heard all the hype about the place so I was like “what is Publika? What is this? Is it a mall? Don’t look like a mall?!” It’s like one of those open-mall concepts ala Sunway Giza IMHO… but they emphasise on performing arts and stuff like that. There’s a lot of artwork being exhibited around the mall, although some of them are a bit weird and not mall-friendly. Again IMHO.

So happened that on the day we went, they had live performances going on. We layan-ed this guy called Mr Banana who is doing some modern version of mime stuff. Quite funny, but what I really enjoyed was his enthusiasm at getting volunteers. He even carried an Indian guy who was watching from the sidelines to the middle of the “stage” cos the guy didn’t want to come in front by himself. Hahahaa! After Tron saw that, he purposely took two steps back. :P

Mr Banana

Got some ghostly-dressed dancers as well… and they were going to do a dance performance. I think they should’ve arranged the performance times better, because from what I *thought* was going on, it was going to clash with Mr Banana’s performance. It’s only good to have 2 performances going on at the same time if there’s hordes of people. But since there ISN’T, then it’s like the performances are stealing audience from each other. A bit silly and pointless… anyway, we loyal-ly stayed to watch finish Mr Banana’s performance.

Physically getting the volunteers, haha.

Telling us to cheer harder.

Me!

Happened to pass by 1 Mont Kiara on the way out of the area, and Tron saw a sign saying, “Enter the Dragon’s Lair” or something like that. He found it very intriguing and said we should totally see what was up. In the end, it was this totally scam-mish Halloween set-up. Blehk. Not very dragon-like in my eyes. :P

And we bought the most expensive fruit juice ever. I don’t even want to recount how much each bottle costs. -__-”

My parents were in Penang that particular day, so I whiled my time away baking peanut butter cookies after Tron sent me home. But come dinner time, was feeling hungry (no, peanut butter cookies for dinner does NOT sound enticing) and lonely, so called Tron for dinner. He introduced me to a new restaurant in the area called G & G. Pretty good stuff, and the owners were amused at me snapping photos of my hokkien mee. Probably subscribes to Ben’s school of thought.

Warms the tummy – old cucumber soup.

Hokkien Mee – good but not great like the one in PJ that Tron took me to “once upon a time”

Fried rice.

Sweet & sour pork

Capriciossa
New place in Subang Parade that Tron & I quite like! The staffers are friendly and the food that we had was awesomeEeeeee. I was somewhat on night support that day, and Tron came over to my house and watched me monitoring the batch run til he beh tahan and told me we should go somewhere nearby to eat, so that if there’s any problem, I could rush back instantly. Throughout the day, I kept worrying about the batch run and how fast I could get back home! But at the end, there was no problems at all. -___- I really need to learn how to be more emotionally stable… hahaha.

New place!

Tron and his Mario shirt.

Me and my Wolverine shirt! :P

Rather nice clam chowder soup. Unlike the one at *ahem* B&N, it actually has copious amounts of clam in it. Very thick and filling, a great appetizer.

This is like their signature pizza or something like that. This is what you *must* try if you come here. Quite a large pizza, just nice for 2. I saw one thin man attempt to eat it all by himself though!

Later that night, I met up with Dull & Fuzz for my belated birthday celebration, and general catch-up with my two galpals. Was a lovely night, only to be spoilt by my funky contact lens that had me “plucking it out” directly from the eyeball. I thought I was discreet, until I heard Dull say, “I don’t think it’s very good for you to keep doing that right?” We went to Capriciossa again, cos there’s a total lack of restaurants to go to ever since Empire got bombed. *sob*

Shared out the Disney souvenirs I got from Hong Kong. I only bought 2 keychains and it went to them. :P

Dull took this keychain. Ok, I am darn pathetic for I took pics of the souvenirs, but not of my friends. I should’ve taken a group pic, but with my wonky contact lens acting up, really couldn’t bear having that moment immortalised on film. :P

Disney mints!

Fuzzy’s 3 cheese pasta

An anchovy pizza that Dull and I split. I wouldn’t recommend this as it is way, way too salty. And it’s not just me, as Dull also complained about it from the very first bite.

That’s for the end of October’s update… and that’s pretty much it for Bulan Bersocial October 2011!
