Oh yeay, my blog looks soooo “Indian” now, hahaha. Going to burn my eyeballs everytime I visit this page… refreshing!
Hope you’ve been enjoying the 3 day weekend so far… I know I have.
Mainly because it was the Curious Drinker’s Society’s Inaugural Meeting! Off topic – I’m very happy today because I managed to download the Boyzone version of Father and Son. Joy! Good memories of high school flooding back.
Ok, the Curious Drinker’s Society is mainly just some random thing I started after we got the absinthe. Curious to find out how it tastes, and trying to find like-minded people + not having my own place to host such meetings meant that there were only a few of us in the end.
And of course, many thanks to my sister & her fiancee (!!!) for lending us their amazingggg pad again. Thanks to the people who showed up, even if it was just to pass out wtf – LY, Kris, Fuzz, Dull, Iza, Shannon and Ian (who escaped house arrest!).
You know what… I’m damn impressed that the few of us managed to polish off 70-80% of the absinthe, even though they all cursed the taste and called it absinthe fail. Hahahaha. Ok, you know why? Cos they keep insisting that the 60% alcohol absinthe that I bought was not authentic because “normal” absinthe is 80% alcohol and the bottle didn’t come with the “special absinthe spoon”. Which in the end we improvised by using syrup to mix absinthe with. HAHAHAHA. Taste-wise, I actually quite liked it — initially. It tastes like… drinking liquid toothpaste. It’s minty refreshing at first, and then burns all the way down. O_O So I thought it was kinda cool. But those madfucks made me drink about 3-4 shots? I vomited in the end, and the only green fairy I saw was what was in the toilet bowl. T___T Wah wah, why am I admitting to my alcohol intolerance here?

Set-up.
Well, there were more drinks available than the absinthe, but since the absinthe was the star of the show, I already asked those people to name their poison of choice. Shannon requested for the Grey Goose and the girls wanted Malibu. Crap, I’m a total Malibu convert. I sooooooo love pineapple juice and Malibu. T_____T Ian and Shannon didn’t even make much headway with the Grey Goose…
Shannon kept taking shots and Ian was drinking Screwdrivers.
Anyway… I’m not an experienced party planner… so I can only hope that you all had fun. LY, Kris and us girls watched House Bunny while taking absinthe shots. When Shannon and Ian arrived, we played Circle of Death to drink faster (drinking mixers at this point, and not shots, cos I will seriously DIE if I played Circle of Death with shots) while listening to Bossa Nova songs. Shannon said that there’s “like only 6 Bossa Nova songs in existence” wtf? I think Dull and Ian are converts already… hehehe. Ian said he went home that night and got all 3 Olivia Ong albums. I want!

Oh, I made jello shots too! But not really… hahaha. Cos I read the recipe and it was like 1/2 part water and 1/2 part pure vodka. When I read that I was totally in shock. That much alcohol?!!? So I made rum-infused jellies instead. Hahaha. These are not shots ok. And besides, I was sad that I didn’t get to make them with orange skin moulds, which would look damn cool. My sister had my alcohol infused jellies and she said she hated the texture because they are super wobbly and Fuzzy said it wobbles like a leech. ?!?! And then she said it tastes like Scotts Emulsion. T____T

I think our party ended prematurely at 2am… and Shannon left his driver’s license behind. -___- And the guards called up Kris to tell him that… sigh. Sorry for disturbing you! And Shannon was so wtf cool about leaving his license behind. Just said, “Can I meet you next week to get it back?” I think he woke up this morning with a realisation and then had to see him to return the license today instead.
Haih, and after 8 years of knowing him, I finally got to find out his chinese name and his birthdate. Hahahha! Haih, I remember totally trying to guess it and he would never tell. And Hosanna knew and didn’t tell me either despite all my prying. Long story as to why we want to know, but the basic gist is when someone is super secretive about things like this, of course it increases your curiosity!
Hope you all had fun and hopefully we can find more weird alcohol in order to have a second meeting. But we really need to find a new location… not that my sister’s place is not nice (it’s superbly nice… Ian says now he’s interested in buying property, hahaha), but it’s wicked to keep using her place.
Moar pics:

Ian, Shannon and Fuzz…
Zomg, I remember how much trouble we had remembering the rules of Circle of Death.
In fact, I think I still don’t know all the rules.

Ian, Fuzz and Dull. Ian is showing off the scar on his arm that he got from arm wrestling.

Fuzzy and Shannon.
Fuzzy, thanks for being such a good drinks mixer!

Don’t know which ho took this picture of me when I was dying from my final absinthe shot.
They seemed quite determine to finish the whole bottle.
But no worries Simon, still have enough for you to chug!

Fireworks display in honor of our first meeting, hehe.
Woke up pretty early the next morning… think vomitting got most of the damn poison out of the system and we ended up watching Wild Child (starring Emma Roberts) before cleaning and leaving the house. That show is really mindless fluff, but quite fun to watch lah. All the girls are realllyyyyyy pretty, especially Emma Roberts and this girl Juno Temple. She’s got a pretty impressive list of work before Wild Child.
Pretty, no?

Okay off topic – but I’m trying to finish Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy now. I’m in the last bits of The Golden Compass, which fyi, I watched the movie and it freaking sucked so bad that when I’m reading the novel, it’s still exciting for me because I don’t remember what comes next. Hahaha. Simon says that the book is boring, but I think it’s alright so far… didn’t like Lyra at first (influenced by the movie) but she’s growing on me. ;P The movie totally failed at explaining the deep connection between Lyra and her daemon… it all makes sense now. Another reason why you should read the book before you see the movie.
