Completely Random Bits Of My Life

Great Weekend!! November 24, 2011

A little bit late to post about my last awesome weekend (especially since I’m headed to another weekend which promises to be very eventful), but I’ve been pretty busy. I’ve also been suffering from neckaches that actually make me feel like I want to puke / pass out. I randomly threw a day of leave yesterday, and I thought I could get a lot of junk done, but I wound up seeing the doctor and resting my neck. You want to know what’s amazing though? When I gym, it’s like the pain just goes away. But if I’m seated quietly for long periods of time, then it really starts to ache. This especially so when doing work.

So I guess you can make a very intelligent summary that it’s due to my bad posture when sitting down. But I’m just wondering, “Why now?” I’ve been like this for agesssss. Anyway, my colleagues are so nice & concerned… cos I said the laptop positioning is not so good for me, they loaned me an LCD screen instead! Lol! But now my cubicle is so full of hardware.

Last Saturday, Tron took me to “the best yong tao foo” in Selangor! Hahaha. I really have NO idea how to get there, just that you should use the AKLEH. Actually, we had yong tao foo the night before as well, and he said it was crap. Was not too keen to eat it again the next day, but after 90 minutes of driving around KL (Yes! 90!!), I was so hungry when we arrived! Thankfully the food comes quickly, and straight outta the wok! It’s super fresh, and super delicious. You can taste the freshness ok! It really made the yong tao foo we had the night before some old stale leftovers! And it’s affordable too. All together, Tron & I ate 30 pieces, and the bill + drinks is RM30! Ok, if you’re my mom you’ll say it’s expensive cos she still harks back to the “good old days” where yong tao foo is 20sen per piece.

Dulu, dulu, dulu polis pun pakai seluar pendek lah! Lol!!

Ampang Yong Tao Foo – since 1976!

Happy me!

Freshly fried wantans and other yummy stuff – straight from the wok!

I just love the lady’s fingers and the bouncy fresh fishball and the tofu… and the chilli!! Everything is awesome! And the chilli sauce and sweet sauce to go with it?? Simply amazing!

Teman-ed Tron to KLCC, and went to Maxis center. He was in a camwhorey mood!

Haha!

In case you do not know what yong tao foo is, Tron’s explanation is – “The Chinese person’s sushi”. LOL!

That night, I went for my ex-colleague’s Sunny & Siu Chui’s house party. They labelled it as an “adult party”, but it was very very very “for general viewing” at the end. :P There was lots of pizza, mixers, chicken, and was great to catch up with my colleagues!! After that, they made us split into two groups to play some games on their Kinect. It was sooooooo coooooooolios! I want one nowwwww! I really think you can lose a lot of weight playing the games! First, we were divided into “red” and “black” team, and we had to play some sports games. This was very fun, but obviously the Kinect experts were all in the red team, so black team trailed super far behind. :( Obviously, I’m in black team. I don’t know if you’ll be able to view the videos Sunny posted up, but here’s the links :

Andric does the long jump, dubbed “lansi”
Mr See’s javelin throw with real javelin.
KL & See’s “Like a G6″.. the disgusting laughter at the background is moi!

Ok, don’t know if you all can view or not, not sure if it’s public or friends only! Hahahha. Anyway, we were trailing so bad that we decided to play the dance challenge to catch up, cos the black team got more girls. You know, guys can be so “wooden”. But not KL lor! Not only does he shake everything, he got this super fatt hao face when he’s dancing. Hahahha! Made us all laugh like crazy! =D Anyway, the dance game is called “Dance Challenge 2″ or something like that. I took some photos of them dancing, but they are all moving so fast, and a “you just had to be there” thing to really laugh your lungs out. I laughed so much, my stomach ached!! Couldn’t even dance properly after that!

Sober, cos around me they be acting like they drunkkkkk (but in this case, the rest of us were sober and these two dancing like drunks!)

Jumping all around some more!! We made them play at DIFFICULT level. Hahaa everyone else played easy or medium only. :P

This is the game! I love how they talk trash to each other at the start of the game! “Hey, haven’t you heard? You already lost! Look, I’ll prove it to you!” WTF. “I’m the ace, and she’s the queen, and you’s about to get flushed.” HAHAHAHAHA.

Lol @ Raymond! So enthusiastic even though got a fractured foot!

I don’t even know what Siu Chui & See are doing!

Oh, and we played the Raving Rabid Rabbits game… very creative la!

See how active this Binz & Siu Chui is!?!

Sigh… so much fun! :D

Nursing The Heartbroken With Vodka June 13, 2011

Last weekend was really interesting. Well, I’ve not been using group purchased coupons for a really long time for a reason — I’ve no time to! In fact, one of my coupons expired and there was nothing I could do about it as no one was going to the area and it was too far for me to drop by, just for an RM5 coupon. Sigh… it was a really good deal though – RM1 for a cupcake from Bisou. I bought 5 coupons! =p Luckily I didn’t buy more, otherwise the loss would’ve been bigger too.

I wrote about this on my “other blog”, so I’ll just link here. The summary of it is just that on Friday, I had to go for cell group meeting, so I gave my parents the two tickets to Magical Musicals that I won from AMBP. You can read about what happens next, but generally they had a good time, and so did I. Why was the cell group important enough for me to “give away” my tickets? Cos it’s my first cell group session since joining RLC, so I didn’t want to miss it! Plus, it turned out to be an awesome sharing session and I ended up so motivated, energised and inspired by my cell group leader. Lots of positivity and confidence-boosting. I am so glad that I did not miss it. =) Sadly, the next cell group will be weeks and weeks away.

Meanwhile, though I’m dying at work, I’m looking to fit in the following in the next 2 weeks :
a. gymming marathons and lots of swimming in the future! I want to lose 4kg and regain my stamina in leaps and bounds! (I nearly died during Body Combat today… they were doing the new release and there were sooooo many lower body movements! Usually I’ll ace it but.. heck! It was murder on the gym floor, baby! Will blog more about it in another entry!)

b. shopping for new clothes. A lot of my “work wear” is in fact very kiddish.

c. shopping for new shoes. I was thinking of foregoing heels forever, but then I decided that what I should be looking out for are comfortable heels, which a certain brand promises to deliver. Will see about that!

d. cooking! I haven’t been cooking and baking since early this year and that’s about to change!

e. spring cleaning – I plan to sell some of my stuff on Lowyat, but before I do that, I need to actually FIND the stuff I plan to sell. Hahaha!

f. going for a holiday in Singapore! I’m praying so hard for this to materialise!

Ah… those are but some idyllic fancies. ;)

After the awesome sharing session on Friday, Tron told me he wanted to sleep in, so I joyfully took to the bed too… only to have him call me up at 10:30am asking me why I wasn’t awake yet. -___-” He is truly a morning eagle while I am a night owl. I had no idea that “sleeping in” was only until 10am. If someone gave me the choice to “sleep in”, expect me up only at lunchtime. Our Saturday was truly lazy – Burger King (why is my Mushroom Swiss so tiny?) and then I was lured by promises of movies to watch, but ended up playing Playstation games with him. -____-”

Fighting games nowadays are so complicated… Last time you only had one fighter in your arsenal and it was a dual to death. Now you have 3 fighters in your arsenal and you have to keep switching between the fighters… so complicated. And of course I didn’t know how to switch la! So unfair… the bullier didn’t teach me until the second round.

Honestly, I don’t even know WHAT game I was playing… just some Street Fighter-style game.

At night, I accompanied my friend Dull who wanted to have heart-to-heart chats. Was expecting pizza, alcohol, DVDs and tears, but wound up having no tears and no opportunity for tears to arise either. The pizza was there, but we had to collect it ourselves from the traffic-jam-hell-hole of SS12. The waiting line was so long that I ended up eating some maggi goreng at Taj while waiting for the pizza.

As for DVDs, we were actually watching online streamed movies… and Dull’s computer speakers were f@cked, so we were straining to hear the dialogue. We watched bits of Saw VI (disgusting, I kept my eyes closed most of the time), bits of Scott Pilgrim vs The World (nice graphics, but I didn’t find it THAT funny), bits of Beastly (Dull said that Alex Pettyfer did not become a beast, but still damn hot and handsome and she still wants him WTF. But I agree he is not a BEAST la, he’s just heavily tattooed and pierced. And Mary-Kate Olsen is NOT scary at all in the movie and he did NOT humiliate her enough. It’s sooooooo mild la.. it’s all so mild!) and the whole of 18 year-old Virgin, only because it’s the one that streamed the fastest.

18 Year Old Virgin is actually soft porn IMHO… so much nudity and the first 5 minutes starts with sexual fantasies and masturbation. O_O I really did think we were watching porn at first! Anyway, the movie is about a girl who wants to lose her virginity at a graduation night party for the seniors at high school. The movie is NOT a parody of 40 Year Old Virgin starring Steve Carell.

In case you’re wondering why she wants to lose her virginity and why she would have trouble doing so, it’s because she believes that this one guy called Ryan Lambert is her dream guy (you’ll find out why she thinks so), and when she offered herself to him, he said that he won’t sleep with virgins because they are emotionally messy. Hahaha! Anyway, so she planned to lose it quickly, and then sleep with Ryan and have him fall in love with her foreverly forever.

It’s damn dumb la, and a lot of dumb things happen, but since we were also “brain numbed” by Absolut Peach and Sprite, we somehow made it thru the show, amidst shouts of “Oh crap, she is so damn dumb!” and “Can she stop being so darn desperate ar!!”

Thought of sleeping over, but I drove back at 2:30am because have church the next day. ^^ Tron now prefers going for the 1st service, so we have to leave Subang quiteeee early. I’m not an early eagle and I think this is why I have trouble waking up on the weekends. Last time, the weekends were for me to catch up on sleep debt!

We didn’t do much on Sunday because we had a wedding to attend at night, so we wanted to nap in the afternoon instead. Hahahaha. The wedding was held at Hyatt Saujana Subang (where my sister had her wedding), and it was the wedding of Tron’s close friend’s brother. Needless to say that I did not know the bride or the groom. But I was very blessed to be able to attend because it was SUCH a grand occassion!

The whole wedding had a cute theme revolving around how the couple travelled together a LOT during their 7 years relationship. Their wedding favors were postcards of countries they have visited, and upon registering, each guest were given a “boarding pass” telling them which table they would be seated.

I was quite sulky when Tron insisted on picking me up so early because I had justttt gotten ready, and usually I like to snack before the wedding because knowing how chinese weddings are — they AREN’T going to start on time. You’re gonna be lucky if it’s only an hour late. Tron said it was tough luck that I didn’t wake up earlier to snack (hmph!) and went on our merry way.

THANKFULLY the wedding had an awesome reception. I remember that Saujana provided the sengkuang / carrot / cucumber / celery sticks and dip for my sister’s reception, but this one had so many other awesome stuff. Potato chips, peanuts, hors d’ouvre. chocolate & butter cake covered by fondant (the chocolate cake is absolute sinful) and lots of drinks, from beer & wine to fruit juices or soft drinks. There was also a string quartet playing… in fact, I was quite reluctant for the wedding to start because I was having so much fun at the reception. =p

The wedding itself, was of course, much grander. We were all bleeding with envy though, because apparently each table was named after a country that the couple had visited. Does that mean they had travelled to 30+ countries? Other than the food, we were also entertained by a live band (Rocaro), the couple performing their “first dance” together (and later, some of the older couples also took to the dancefloor gracefully) and there was even a bian mian performance and Michael Jackson impersonator! This was starting to look like my Tan Sri’s own birthday dinner! It was that grand!

Also had a lot of fun because the people seated at our table were crazy and kept cracking odd jokes. Hahaha. The kind of guests whom if you are the groom, you don’t know whether to be happy that they are there breaking the ice, or to have them hauled out of the ballroom for disturbing the solemnity of the occasion. ;) Still, had fun and glad to meet those people that night. I pity the grandma and the maid sitting with us though… the grandma must’ve been itching to ask the guys to shaddap. =p

This apparently random picture is of Sri (Tron’s friend) who is one of the best man (I think) walking in with the bridesmaid. Then Francis said that the girl looks damn unhappy to be with Sri… wonder what he did to her? Hahahaha… :P

This is the lovely bride & groom… congratulations and may your marriage will be as wonderful as the wedding itself. :)

Their first dance…

Four Days – Dodgy People March 3, 2011

Final instalment of the Langkawi trip… after which you will have to do with less picture-filled entries. :P

There’s nothing much to say about the last day. After all, we went back in the afternoon. Dull was horribly sick on the last day, and I found out what happened from Fuzz as we had lunch together. We wanted to go to Breakfast Bar, but it was still closed. So sad! So we went back to D’Melati, the place where you should only eat when you have a lot of time to spare. Actually, we didn’t have time, what with Dull being sick and sleeping in the car, but boh pian. The restaurant was crazy inefficient that day :
- gave me the wrong order twice… kept trying to serve me the wrong food!
- mixed up Fuzz and my soup, so that even when we specifically asked, “Is *this* the cream of asparagus?” -__- We only thought of swapping when we were halfway thru!
- staff said it only takes 15 minutes, but of coz they took their own sweet time

Such a difference from the previous day! But then again that day we *did* have all the time in the world to wait for our food, so maybe we didn’t get as annoyed. I was quite disappointed with my chef’s sandwich. We thought that anything with the prefix of “Chef’s” would be truly good. After all, the “Chef’s Salad” we had the other day was fantastic. But this sandwich was like a few pieces of ham and some sad veggies. Didn’t look like the picture at all! Sigh… Tron, I tell you the turkey ham ciabatta sandwich I made for you is sooo much better. ;P

Ok, anyway! To tell you about the drama from the night before (after I had fallen asleep after partying at Sunba). Actually, it’s not really drama. Just that Fuzz and Dull went out to sit at the benches facing the sea to enjoy the sea breeze. Fuzz was also accompanying Dull who was trying to finish the remainder 1/3 bottle of ruby port wine. After they were chit chatting for a while, suddenly the chalet nearest to their bench had the lights turned on. Fuzz was like, “oh crap, did we make that much noise that we woke someone up? But we were just talking normally!” Out came two Indian guys in towels. So dodgy! Who would either :
a. be hanging around the room in towels only? If you are a guy, how would you feel if your room mate walks around in a towel only at 3:30am in the morning? Lol!!!
b. or purposely wear a towel to go outside and meet girls?

Predictably, they wanted to “get to know” Dull… and the pick up line was.. “Do you know how to speak Tamil?” Hahahhaa! Anyway, Dull spoke to them in Tamil, so Fuzz didn’t know what was going on. Later, Dull informed her that the guys were interested in drinking with them, and said that they had a bottle of alcohol that they could share with them, or they could go and buy juice or soft drinks or beer or whatever the girls wanted to drink. -___- And that time was 3:30am – 4am already… what stores are open? It’s Langkawi… they would have to find some 24 hr thingy that caters to tourists… not sure if there is. Anyway, this Dull must’ve been drunk cos she really considered their offer. -____- And asked Fuzz if she know what place is open late at night. Fuzz sent her an sms saying, “Dude, after you see this sms, pretend it’s from your mom and then say you have to call her back in the chalet.” This Dull read the sms and didn’t do as Fuzz asked… hahahaa! Damn funny. In the end, Fuzz manged to get Dull back into the chalet, so the Indian guys must’ve thought Fuzz was major cockblock… hahahhahaa….

Anyway, I just wanted to write that out because I think guys who come out in towels are soooooo dodgy. When Dull casually asked them why they came out in their towels, they said something like, “Oh, we were wearing shorts just now, but decided to change into towels.” WTF!! What kind of logic is that!? I asked Fuzz… what would you do if they suddenly just dropped their towels in front of you two? Then she also said she don’t know what to do …

Go away, dodgy guys!! Girls on holiday, drinking wine doesn’t instantly mean that we are looking for men!

Oh, and we went to some duty-free stores near our hotel… Fuzz needed to do some last minute shopping. I keep telling myself that I have way too much perfume, but I really like the Incanto Shine that she bought (I have a bottle of Incanto Dream and I have barely used it! And thinking of getting another one… siao!), and the new Britney Spears perfume – Radiance is really nice too…. the bottle, I mean. Hehehe!

Four Days – Tourist-ing Around In Skirt and Wedges March 1, 2011

This blog post will hopefully serve as a reminder to myself to NOT be a tourist in a thin skirt from Dotti and wobbly wedges.

After two days of general bumming around, we told ourselves that we most definitely had to do SOMETHING touristy. FYI, I planned to go to the Underwater World as well… but “couldn’t find the time”. Hehehe. We decided to go on the cable car instead and to go around Pantai Kok. Wanted to be all uppity and eat at The Loaf while looking at people go by on their luxury yachts. Hmmm… My friends ate their Ramlee burgers (from the night before), but by the time *I* woke up, I found ants crawling all over my burger. I don’t know whether the few hours of extra sleep gave the ants more time to crawl into my burger, but I was super unhappy about it. I’m not the type who will just brush off the gazillion ants and eat the damn thing.

I had a traumatic experience when younger… drinking a can of A&W root beer that was left open overnight and had tonnes of dead ants in it. And then a second traumatic experience when someone stupidly insisted that I drink something that was left open, insisting that it was alright. Found myself scraping ants off my tongue a second time. The conclusion is that I hate ants and will never again bring myself to eat something that has the possibility of an ant colony inside.

Didn’t have time to search for brekkie as we had to check out and then move to Charlie’s Motel, the new place the gals found at Pantai Tengah. Honestly for the price, it’s better than Grand Beach, but both have their pros and cons. For one, Charlie’s Motel‘s fridge had fungusy stuff growing in it and doesn’t actually work well. (Grand Beach’s fridge worked… but when we first arrived, Fuzz found mysterious liquid floating around at the bottom… yuck!) The toilet had great water pressure and worked just fine, but it smelled funky too. However all in all, the extra RM20 was worth it. The place is really pretty too. And the beach, though it is not private, it seems private because people who DON’T stay at the motel all congregate on one end of the beach, which is pretty far away from the part of the beach that is nearer to the chalets.

Drove to Pantai Kok… my friend Dull was pissed at me cos on the 1st day, she insisted on driving the Persona even though she’s not used to manual cars. She seriously made Fuzz and I nauseous. I don’t know about Fuzz, but I was seriously feeling woozy from the flight (I am so not a good traveller), and her constant braking and unable to put the car into gear properly, and her reluctance to stop (because would have to balance the clutch and start all over again) was seriously disturbing! And I told her so! But guess what? For my honesty, and then my generosity at offering to drive, she decided to annoy me by complaining about my driving. -____- She kept going, “Ugh! I’m nauseous!” every 2 seconds! Seriously man, wanna slap her til she die… after that, I super boh song already, so Fuzz had to drive for the rest of the trip. Muwahahaha…

In the end, we couldn’t find where the Loaf was, though we were right there at Perdana Quay (owned by Petronas!!1!). The little quay was so picturesque that we stopped by to take photos, and then somehow or other, I wound up eating lunch alone at the Kedai Mesra there. Hahahaha! Dull and Fuzz still full from the Ramlee burgers in the morning, and I thought it wasn’t fair to drag them to waste time at The Loaf when we had so much tourist-ing around to do. Plus, I was the only one really up for it. :(

Continued on to Pantai Kok, and finally arrived at the Oriental Village to take the cable car! Aside from little craft shops, some segway rides, the cable car and a giant lake.. there’s not much going on there. Ooh! I touched a python! RM10 to take a photo with it, but not worth it la. And though I’m not SCARED of the python, I feel quite geli to touch it la… eeks! The cable car ride itself was SUPERB! Worth every last sen of the RM15 (half price for Malaysians… others pay double!) I spent. It goes from the bottom of Gunung Machinchang right to the top…. well, almost ther anyway. You can stop at two different stations.. each has an observation deck. However, the one at the higher station requires you to scamper through about 250-300 steps in the forest before you reach the suspended bridge. The view it offers is AMAZINGGGGG though. However, both Fuzz and I were a bit scared to walk all the way through. When the wind blows (and it is pretty strong!) you can feel the whole bridge sway! And some planks are a little wobbly, so it makes you think shit is going downnnnnnnn…. hahahahaha….

Went to Kuah town (again!) after we had enough sight-seeing and wanted to splurge instead. :p I spent a lot of money on stuff after all (just paid my credit card bill today… *sob*). Altogether, I bought :
- 2 bottles of ice wine (one drank on the 1st night, the other present for Tron)
- 1 bottle of Dow’s ruby port wine
- 1 bottle of Pimm’s! Ben, remember how I was on the lookout for this after having it at The Queen & Mangosteen?
- 4 bars of Whittakers – 1 bitter orange for Angeline, 1 dark choco for Luke, 1 rum & raisin for parents, 1 kiwi for myself! XD
- 1 tin of Cavendish sweets in pear & blackberry
- 1 packet of Reese’s peanut butter cups (for myself, dunno why I bought also as I don’t really like it wtf)
- 1 mixed packet of Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Bounty for my colleagues – 1 pack of 3 tins of macadamia nuts from Hawaiian Host. 1 for Tron’s parents, 1 for my parents and 1 for my colleagues

Phew! Thank God for 20kg bag limit.. Fuzz went nuts buying Cornell dishes some more. And her list of chocolates to buy for people was immense (cos so many people asking her for help). Crazy man! By the way, since Whittakers is the same price as Cadbury, I super recommend you to take Whittakers instead man! It is soooooooo good! Cadbury is actually cheaper cos they have buy 4 free 1 deals and they do have really nice flavors… but oh man.. Whittakers….

After dragging all our stuff back to the chalet, we quickly changed for a dip in the ocean… the only time we went into the sea! Hahaha! At first there was some misunderstanding… everytime we headed into the water, someone would blow the whistle and there was a guy waving his arms. In the end, it turns out he was signalling to the paragliders… wtf! At first we thought he was preventing us from going in. And at the delicious time of 6pm, there was no one in the water! Thought we were in jellyfish infested waters or something! Anyway, the 1.5 hours dip was soooooo delicious and relaxing and wonderful. Though Tron says that sea water is dirty, I think it was good for my skin la! I had good skin days for 2 days after that… came back to KL and now got 2 pimples ady, sheesh! Was just lazing around, giving self foot exfoliation and general just chit chatting. The only bad part was the so-called “sea flies” that Dull said is causing some random itch on my arm. It goes away after you get out of the water… seriously what bit me? Sea fly? No fly also?

Went to Fat Mom’s for Dull’s birthday dinner after that… and seriously it’s the best place to eat in Langkawi!! The food is cheap and delicious and the owner is so accomodating. He allowed us to open the bottle of port wine with no corkage charge as it was Dull’s birthday celebration. And on top of that, he even gave us complimentary fruits, and said it was the birthday cake. Hahahhaa! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DULL!!! Glad you liked the birthday present…. I had a really hard time choosing the gift for you! <3 <3 <3 Don’t be so panas baran and I pray that this year will be a year with many blessings and happiness for you, whether in terms of career, love, or just general havin’-a-great-life-ness. :P

We had more than what is pictured … altogether 8 dishes. Missing dishes are another serving of seafood tofu and some fried broccoli. Pictured on top is :deep fried squid, spicy garlic prawn, seafood tofu, Thai style fish fillet, butter chicken and fried vege with garlic.

Ended the night at Sunba, also THE best place to go drinking / clubbing / pubbing / dancing / whatever in Langkawi! Wow, seems like I’m starting to like Pantai Tengah more than Pantai Cenang ady. :p Had endless rounds of Mai Tais and ended with a killer Long Island Tea. The band was pretty good, played mostly rock covers. And when it ended around 1-2am, everyone was already dancing madly. The choice of dance songs they continued to play (Sunba, not the live band that already ciao-ed) was addictive and I let loose of inhibitions. Hahahha. Dancing is fun when there’s no creepy guys around that try to come up from behind.

Totally died-ed by 3am and when we went back, all I wanted to do was go to sleep, but Dull said not to waste the 1/3 port wine we had left. I will story you in on what happened after I had dozed off… in the next entry. :P
