Another Massive Food Update February 25, 2012

Ugh, bad timing to post this when it’s late at night and I am already starving after skipping dinner. The things I do to myself! Anyway, needless to say that I’m damn busy of late. Got so many things going on at work, at personal life, friends, etc. So many people I’m supposed to meet up with that I didn’t, and the list just grows. Not to say like I’m so in demand or whatever… but do you actually note how often I blog about “met up with so-and-so today”, and the so-and-so is NOT Tron or someone related to me by blood?! Very rare, right? Anyway, I hope I won’t be neglecting my friends too much, and I promise, when work is not so crazy and personal life not so crazy also, will meet up with soon!

Meanwhile, food update (lol):

Spaghetti Factory at Midvalley. One of Tron’s staple choices cos he likes all the “Organic!” and “No additional preservatives!” that they paste everywhere. TBH, I find it a bit bland, but I do agree that for the price it is ok la.

Paddington House of Pancakes. This one, I quite like… but Tron banned this place already. Cos he says that the food sucks… but that’s because he doesn’t know what to order. Who goes to house of PANCAKES and orders aglio olio. I know right? What a nutter.

After Empire re-opened, this was where we made a beeline for… we missed Din Tai Fung badly! Hahaha… missed my siu loong pau and la mian!

This is some really nice, posh Japanese restaurant in Mont Kiara… Super good food! As usual, Tron humbly ordered the cha soba, while I ordered some massive Japanese lunch set that contained pregnant fish, fried oysters, sashimi, tempura, and goodness knows what other side dishes. Damn worth my RM50 lo.

Sugimoto again with Tron! The stuff here is super good, and very worth it considering the price. As usual, we went overboard.. both of us ordered lunch sets that contained one main, and some noodles. The lunch set is insane!! Who would eat a sashimi bowl, and have a side of a huge bowl of udon? Who would eat a teppanyaki rice bowl and have some soba to wash it down?! And on top of all that, we had the Volcano Roll some more. By the way, must remember to NOT order this roll anymore! It looks good, but not enough salmon for my taste! =p

We are starting to frequent Vietnam Kitchen more and more ever since we banned D’Italianne Kitchen and recently – Oriental Pavilion. The latter is because they make us wait darn long, but we can see when big parties arrive, they seat them immediately! Ya, I guess it’s good business acumen to serve those who will order more, but Oriental Pavilion – don’t forget that we are your FREQUENT customers. Now we boycott you you sure miss us wan lah. ;)

Anyway, the food at Vietnam Kitchen is seriously not bad! Not such a bad thing to ban restaurants left and right, cos we discover places where it’s less crowded, better service and now have a thing for the lovely little set lunches there, which comes with very addictive spring rolls!

When I Chose MAS Over Air Asia… February 23, 2012

Randomness! I’m going to a holiday destination within Malaysia next month, and as always, I choose Air Asia because I *think* it’s going to be the cheapest deal that I can get. Since this trip is going to be a bit special (will say why later!), I didn’t mind when Tron asked me to ensure that we have meals on the plane, that we get to choose our seats (lol), etc. The end cost was about RM650. Was a bit peeved at all the additional charges that I either didn’t notice before on Air Asia, or they are truly new. Stuff like having to pay extra $ if we do not do a self-check in. Paying extra RM20 if I choose to pay with credit card instead of a direct debit. What the.. credit card points also don’t want to let me earn ah!

Still, since I thought I was getting a good deal with Air Asia, I proceeded to do a direct debit instead. Then … I realised that when I clicked on the pop-up to pay… the amount shown was less than the total amount at the check-out earlier. No matter whether I chose to do a direct debit with CIMB, PBB or whatever (yes, got a few different accounts, wtf), it always deducted the same amount once I had click the pop-up to pay. Doing some basic math, I found out that the amount deducted was from choosing the seats. If I went back to choose my seats again, it would give me another error :

At this point, you might think – it’s fated. Just don’t select the damn seats. But as mentioned, this trip is going to be something special, so I WANTED the damn seats. -_-” What if we end up seated damn far from each other? My colleague later told me that you can just be kiasu and rush up the plane and randomly sit together, as long as it is not on the “hot seats”. I don’t think this is possible because I see that the seat selections can be booked for ANY seat on the plane, not just the hot seats (hot seats have to pay extra)… so it’s possible that you are kiasu, go up and grab a seat… and then someone says you are sitting at their place, and you have to bugger off somewhere else. I think you are randomly assigned a seat by the airline and it’s just your luck if you get to sit together! That’s why the airline charges you a “small” fee to “keep your travel party together”. Hmph!

I decided to contact them, but hesitated to contribute to their PREMIUM contact line. Last time I had to pay RM20 just to clarify something. Sigh. Their online “live chat” was also down — so looks like it’s not a 24/7 kind of thing. Finally, I decided to just email them as they said they will get back to me within 5 working days. I emailed them on February 5… the booking was not that urgent, so I thought I could wait… but they showed their sincerity by only contacting me TODAY. Gee. And guess what they said? Urged me to use Internet Explorer, which is one browser I will not use on my own personal laptop! Ban ban ban   and hate it when websites (especially government websites!) are designed to only support IE!

How many people nowadays still use IE as their default browser? Grr… why can’t you make your app work on Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera etc etc. Anyway, I’ve successfully made booking for AA and picked seats using Firefox browser lo…

Oh, I also don’t appreciate them addressing me as “MR”. Hello, my name is so feminine! I have not met a GUY with the same name as me before. When in doubt, you have my account details. Or just drop the salutation…

In the end, I didn’t bother, cos after the 5 days I still didn’t get a reply back, I decided to book with MAS instead. Without all the hidden costs, MAS was surprisingly only RM40 more expensive than Air Asia. And I didn’t have to pay extra for my luggage, meals, check-in, extra surchage when pay by credit card, fuel surcharge  (or whatever it is that Air Asia lists it as that suddenly increases RM100-RM200 to your amount). Ok, I have to admit that if you cut out the luggage, food, seat choosing, if you decide to fly in the weeeee hours of the morning (and ultimately pay the difference in cab fare surcharges) you will save more with Air Asia. But I already mentioned this is special case, right? So in conclusion, if you want to travel WITH frills, then don’t go with AA. If you want to be so frilly, then MAS is seriously not as expensive as you think it would / could be.

In case you’re wondering why I didn’t go with Fireflyz, it’s because my boyfriend is paranoid about the airlines ever since we took it to Lang Tengah. Hahaha!! Cos he doesn’t trust the small planes they use to fly domestic …. hahahaha….

After The Love Is Gone… February 9, 2012

My boyfriend constantly alternates between telling me that I’m too muscular, and telling me that I’m a wimp compared to his manly manliness. One thing that he can’t deny though, is that my legs are more muscular than his. Although not as super toned as it was in my heyday (like talking about something 3 decades ago), I still have legs that take me through insane consecutive lunges and tuck jumps. One day, really pissed at how I was flexing my muscles, Tron suddenly said, “Shit, you’re really right. Your legs are more muscular than mine. How can that be? I wear skinny jeans and you can’t.”

My face started to look like this :

Then he had to add on, “Omg, we should change legs la! Your legs are like Pelé’s legs!”

In case you don’t know who Pelé is, or how his legs look like, take a gander :

I really don’t think I’m that muscular… from the side view, I really like how my legs look. From the front view… *sigh* No comment. To illustrate, this was a random doodle I was doing. To be honest, I wasn’t even really drawing “myself” in the picture, I was concentrating on drawing the pleats in my skirt because I was distracted (fine, I was at church. Don’t scold me, pastor!) and I was actually angry at something else, so to take my mind off it — I did something mindless. This is not a 100% reproduction, but it’s pretty near to what I was drawing :

Tron of course saw what I was drawing and he said, “Is that you?”. I just said, “yes” because it’s too bothersome to tell him, “Oh, no just randomly drawing a figure with no body and head, just a skirt and limbs that look like they belong to an octopus.” (Some more at church..!) So Tron grabbed my drawing and defaced it like so :

So I guess I’m sticking to jeans and long skirts from now on.

Just Baby Ben February 9, 2012

Took loads of photos of him when babysitting him recently. For the visual consumption of some of his fans (you know who you are) who have been asking for more photos. Hehehe. I got a shock when I saw him actually, because he’s so much bigger now! Taller and fatter… well, no big surprise since he has passed his full moon already.

So happened on the day I was babysitting he went through a LOT of “costume change” because we bathed him, and he soiled some of his clothes (through milk spit up.. -__-”), etc. But I was thoroughly enjoying myself playing “dress up” with him. Hahahaha! Oh babies… you are like living dolls for us unmarried people. :P

A bit rashy, but the rash has since gone away… apparently it’s quite a normal thing for the babies to get rashes…

His “like a boss” pose… :P

That is me carrying Ben, not a maid. The reason why I’m wearing that strange thing on my head is because it keeps my fringe out of my face. Also, it’s not old-fashioned or whatever. In fact, it’s one of my proudest purchase from Laos last time – the multi-way neck scarf! More on that next time.

Anyway, doesn’t Ben look so satisfied and shiok just lying on my shoulder? :P

Sleepy time! And also change of clothes after his bath. In  his gigolo vest… hahahahhaaha……

Don’t take my picture lahhh..

I held his hand back so he cannot block me…. sucks to be smaller and weaker than your aunty, doesn’t it? Now you can’t stop her from taking all the photos that she wants!

Eyes so big and round… :D

This is another of his favorite positions.. lying between your legs… and you bounce him around. Changed to his “Carrot” pants as dubbed by my sister. It is carrot cut and also has carrots on it, lol. Also known as his “MC Hammer” pants. :)

Looks like he is eating mommy’s shoulder… hehehe. This is his #1 favorite position, btw.

Changed pants again!!
